My sister told me that she heard some people in her class talking about sit ups. She told me they said that sit ups don't really help flatten your stomach. Is that true?! I do sit ups just for that purpose! But does it really not work?

Sit ups do firm and strengthen the abs, but other exercises need to be done to work the abs through the whole range. Also, if you carry any excess weight on your tummy, you won't see the results of all your sit ups until you've shifted it. For this, aerobic exercises that raise your heart rate are reccommended.

Well I also run on a treadmill. Does that count as the other exercises that need to be done?

When I did crunches correctly and dieted together, they helped flatten my stomach. One without the other is pretty useless. Suck in your stomach while coming up. Otherwise, if you leave it hanging out while coming up, you aren't going to tighten anything. Take care and good luck.

I have never heard that they do not work. I believe that they tighten your stomach muscles. I do not believe that so many people would have been doing them so long if it did not actually work. But then again, nothing in this area is written in stone. They are finding out new information every day.

No, i guess its not true. According to experience it did not flatten my tummy but i help myself on drinking tea and fat burning supplements.

You see the abs are infront of all the organs in our abdomen. So if your abs are good and strong then you will have a flat belly. But there is a problem. If you have body fat that fat will get stored up infront of your abs and that will ruin your flat look. So situps do actually work.

What they do is firm up the tissue that is there--so, in some senses, it's possible that they could make the area around the stomach larger--at least this is the hearsay I hear...supposedly coming from a trainer...
