Would you claim compensation even if it meant others went without?

I've recently had an operation and from that it's caused me more problems so I'm going to have another operation to rectify it. Someone asked me if I were going to claim compensation, but in my opinion if I did this I would be taking funds away from the national health service here in the UK, funds that could be used elsewhere to help other people! I know it comes out of insurance funds, but those funds have to be found somewhere.. Have you ever come across this, or would this not matter to you?

No, as long as they could rectify the problem, I don't think I would. I think it's unfair that a mistake made by individuals should be charged to the NHS Funds anyway. I think they should be made personally responsible for any compensation claims. The only time I turned down a chance to claim compensation, was when I had an accident in the pub cellar, just after I'd started work one day. The cellar was strewn with obstacles and I fell and cut my eye, across the eyebrow, on a metal strip which was standing by the door. I couldn't break my fall because I had an armful of glass bottles, so I just had to go, headfirst. I was made a fuss of, taken to the hospital, picked up and on return, received two free pints and my wages for the day... I worked five minutes. So, although I know they were kind of covering themselves, I didn't want to make their struggle to make a go of the pub any harder. Besides, it would have blackened my name for future jobs! Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xx

I have to agree with you, I'm not for this lifestyle of 'if there's blame, there's a claim!' we all end up paying in the end through higher insurance costs etc, people just want to make a quick buck nowadays, when really money should be put into education to avoid these problems to start with! Thanks for you response! Blessed Be! xx

Yes, I quite agree with your sentiments about education and I do wish they would stop closing down local hospitals and moving everybody to one, main hospital that's miles away. I can't work that one out! xx

The funds are there and if you need them I would use them as long as you don't abuse them,I do not see anything wrong with what your doing.

Oh I haven't done anything about it yet, it was just a friend who suggested that I should as I would be losing wages whilst off sick. Thanks for replying!

Personally Bizziebod if you will do without if you do not claim compensation then yes i would claim it for myself...You do not have to worry about someone else doing without, there is plenty to go around,do not let the government fool you, they spend money foolishly on a daily basis....Now if you have plenty of money and do not need it then don't, I do not think a person should just use the system, but if you need it by all means claim it....Billions of people pay in yearly that never ever draws compensation....Anyone who actually needs compensation and they put in a claim and it shows that they do need it,they will get it....All these homeless people that you see on the street, they could claim compensation and they would get it if needed,if they do not need it they will not get it...Some just don't claim it....That is why we pay taxes to help those that need it....Its up to ypu rather or not you need it....

Do what you have to do. Others will not go wihtout, if they really need care.
