Do You Know Why FireFlys Flash?
Flashing Lightning Bugs are trying to attract mates. Among most but not all species, males fly about flashing. If the female sees a flasher and she's ready to mate she responds by flashing right after the male's last flash. A short flash dialogue takes place as the male flies closer and closer, and then, if all goes well, they mate.THE light emanetes from the rear end,or abdomen, showing up as bright yellow.
I never really knew why the firefly or lightningbug really did flash untill My granddaughter told me about it, I was really amased that the reason that they flashed was to attract and get a mate. They are pretty interesting creatures, I think.I used to try to catch them when I was young and alsowhen my kids where young.

I knew about this for years. The way to catch fireflies or at least play with them a bit was to use a flashlight right at them after one of their flashes.

I know I used to like to catch them, and like to see them. But I never knew this is the reason they did light up.

I think they are pretty interesting creatures also. I just recently learned about why a firefly flashes. I think it is fascinating the way God created the different things.
