I know some will just answer whats on the topic without even reading through the whole discussion. What do you think? Sometimes I find that the topic and the content of the discussion are totally mismatch. Agree?

hi ellie26, i agree with you 100%, i find it interesting when someone respond to my discussion without reading the whole content and i always end up wondering and lost LOL. in my case, i like to read the whole content and sometimes even the other's reply so i can relate more and at least i know what i am talking. i dont like to say something that is totally nonsense and i dont want to look retarded. i honestly like to make all my post (as much as possible) with essence on it so the OP and me and the other reader can learn something about it and or ar least the their is really a discussion going on. anyway, i hope i didnt make you wonder out here, haha takecare and have a great weekend!

In a real discussions, people should read and understand what is in that discussion. Then reply to it accordingly. So, that is why it is crucial to read entirely and not just the topic/subject. But some discussion are too looooong that one tend to just reply to the topic instead of responding to the actual discussion.

that's true but in my case if i cant read the whole discussion then id rather not respond to it coz i dont want to look silly on the matter. i feel that as a poster i should at least do my part to make sense on the discussion and not just grab as much as i can for the sake of getting a lot of post numbers. some do though, and sometimes they get lucky that whatever they are saying is not yet part of the LONG post of the OP, haha! anyway, we all have our own choice and that is how i work here in mylot. i want my stay here as fruitful as possible and i can only attain it if i know i am doing the right thing (NOT that i am saying that what others do is wrong - just talking about MYSELF) takecare.

Honestly, once I just read the subject or the topic then I immediately answered without really reading it. After I saved it, holly molly.... they are not related. I just got excited coz I like the question then I didn't know that it has a different content lolz. AFter that, I really read everything before I answer a discussion! Lessons learned!

In the beginning, I kinda just reply on the topic. But I soon realized it was a big mistake. So, now I will try to read and understand what the discussion is all about. Then I try to respond it to my best ability.

Yup! It is better to read the whole discussion first so that we really know what to reply on the discussion. Cheers!

No. All the discussions I have read match the topic. I read the whole post before I comment on it.

i read the discussion forst and then response. after i am finish responding that is the time that i will read on what other members response. we have different views of things. that is the reason why sometimes it seems like the started discussion is mismatched with other responses. are responses are based on how we understand the discussion.

I agree too. Different people have different kind of understanding. So, maybe one person don't get what the discussion is all about but the other simply understood it right away.

I think and read carefully before I answer anyones post...Sometimes the topic is just to catch attention and is not the complete meaning of the post...I pay attention like I said because when I write I want my words to be true and pure...I do not want to give out false advice or information...

Well, that should the way to respond to a discussion. Sometimes the topic is catchy but the content not so.

You are right on this and it is best to read the complete post before answering with your own response.. sometimes there are wuestions asked that deserve an answer, but you can't answer without reading the entire post.. Hav a wonderful day..

yeah, i also found it too that sometimes the content of discussion is not explaining more about the discussion titles. but sometimes i also found that the response also doesn't match with the discussion cause they don't read whole of discussion. actually its nice to read whole of discussion so we can know what kind thing the topic about but it will be little bit bore when the content of discussion have long of paragraph. what do you think about this kind thing, dear?

I think the topic and content should match. If one have a catchy topic but a dull content, people will have difficulty in responding. This will put off some to respond.

I prefer reading contents, after I have opened the discussions. I just do not start replying after seeing heading or title of a discussion. For me, contents are more imporant. I agree with you that in some of the cases, title and the contents of the discussions do not match. That is why it is important to read the entire discussions, before going for your response. However, I find that sometimes, discussions are very lengthy and it takes considerable time to get the crux of the matter. I feel uneasy while seeing an uncommon lengthy discussion.

Yes I agree with you. I tend to skip lengthy discussion. Sometimes I couldn't even understand the whole discussion. I think short, simple and straight to the point is best.

Yhea I do, it is hart to answered topic if you don't know the whole story and the details of the topic. And your right sometimes some of the topics are not related to the answer maybe that they did not really read the whole discussion.

Yes, it is always a good idea to read through the entirely discussion. If one just read the topic then they will eventually give wrong responses.

Most of the time I try to read the entire discussion. If the discussion is too long, I will skim through it for the major points. I never rely just on the title, though. As you said, sometimes the title and the content can be totally different, and then you don't get to the heart of the discussion.

I think if we really try to read a long discussion, it actually a very interesting discussion.

Yes, it might be interesting. But most of the time, I don't have the time to sit here and read a full page discussion. Give me the basic facts, ask me a question, let me answer it, and then we'll move on to the next discussion. If I need more details, I can ask for them. Don't overload me with tiny details that aren't central to the point of the discussion.

I think it's really nice if someone reads all the posts. I always do my best, because there's much to learn from everyone here and I want to see if the topic wandered off. Sometimes the topic wanders off naturally. I started a discussion about a romance, and with everyone here helping, I actually worked things out in my head and I'm feeling much better. So you see, as the days have continued, the topic shifted. But most people still answer the original question, which is fine. Yes, the question has been answered, and if they read all the posts, they would know this. However, it's only fair if a person wants to reply to the original question. I still appreciate everyone answering the question, because everyone has something different to offer. I always thank them, and I think, well, if it's not specifically related to me at this moment, maybe it's for another person who reads the posts. Someone else might grow from a later post, having missed the original exchanges. If a discussion has gone on for days, I speed read all of them, but not everyone has time to do that. I haven't come across any mismatched topics yet. Catch you later!

Nice respond. Interesting discussion can be not interesting when some responses mismatched. Sometimes I find that a discussion turns into a chit-chatting session which I think should not happen in the real discussion.

You're right. I can always tell when a conversation falls into pals chit-chatting and I feel like I'm a stranger looking into the window of someone else's house. I back right out of those. Thanks for responding.

yes i did this before i only dependent on the topic or the subject without reading the whole discussion, the result my answer is different from the discussion. because of this i change my style i read the discussion so that i can get idea and i can also share my idea related to the post.

thats not necessarily true as if you read allof the discussion then go back to the topic you will find it is usually relevant. we sometimes embellish to attract responses but Ihave found few that do not somehow fit. I know I am irritated when someone answers and I can tell by their answer that they did not read hardly any of the discussion. this is rude to my way of thinking . if you are not interested in my discussion then please do not bother responding.

Well, some do come here to earn. Responding or starting a discussion means money. So, that is why we sometimes get ridiculous responses or not interesting discussions.

I must admit that on occasion I don't read the whole discussion but skim read it instead and start by answering the topic question. I get lazy like that sometimes.

Do not judge a book by its cover. By just reading the title we cannot come to a conclusion what the discussion is all about and what is written in the discussion. Well i walways read the whole discussion atleast once before responding to the discussion. But i respond to those discussion which does make some sense to me rather than responding to all those discussions which i come across. To be more exact those discussions from my interest does attract me more when compared to all other discussions.

i will read the post and have a look at a few responses to it,then i will answer with what i am thinking at the time.if i read to many responses to that post and i see to many people with the same thoughts i had ,then i tend to not respond at all,as i feel that you have allready heard that.cheers sue
