"Why don't you get a job so you can pay for some new clothes?"

Why, oh why, do husbands say these things to their wives while they are the ones that insist we stay at home with the kids in the first place? Why do they insist on belitting what we do at home? Why is it that because we don't get paid to watch their children, clean up after them (husband and kids), cook them food, wash their clothes, grocery shop, clean the house, pay the bills, and somewhere in between all of that, manage to stay sane, why is this not a "real" job? If I broke it down by job, that would mean I was a fulltime (fulltime meaning 24/7) babysitter, housekeeper, personal chef, laundry attendant, banker, nurse, teacher.... I'm sure there are more hats that I wear but I am so angry that I can't think.... So I have finally had enough and told my husband that I am demanding a salary. He told me tonight, after I asked him if I could go buy some shirts for myself (which I can't remember the last time I bought ANYTHING for me), that I should get a job to pay for it. So I asked him if he'd rather we pay someone else to watch our son while I go work and he says no, I can watch our son during the day and then after he goes to bed at night, I can get a "real" job............. I now know what it means to "see red"........ So I told him that he's going to have to pay me to watch our son during the day. End rant. Thanks for listening.

Yeah, men can be quite insensitive at times. My husband does that sometimes too and it always make me so angry. Anyway, after ranting and raving about how I slave in the house without getting paid, I usually feel a lot better. :)
