i just heard a terrifying story. i knew ball pitts were full of germs but i just heard a scarier story about them. a 3 year old boy was playing in one and came out complaining to his mother that he was sore on his back. she saw a little mark like a pin hole and wasn't sure what it was. anyway after a little while the boy got really sick and she took him to the doctors. not sure the exact story if he died before getting there but appearently there was a needle in the ball pit that pricked him. he died of an overdose of heroin which is what was in the needle. how auful is this. people through things in kids toys not caring what kind of danger they are putting kids in. do people really think this is funny or fun. i don't get why someone would through that in. but i've also heard of knives being in the pitts as well, just be careful with your kids

Wow I would of never thought, did they mention where the ball pit was, like Mcdonalds, chucky cheese? I will definitely think twice before I let my son near one of those.

I had heard that once before. I don't see what people get out of doing such stupid things. It is really sad, that we would even have to worry about such a thing.

I know that I won't let my kids in a ball pit because I have heard this story before, but I checked around on the internet about it and found that it is a urban legend. Here are a few links for you to check out. www.snopes.com/horrors/parental/archer.asp http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/blsnakes.htm http://blogs.chron.com/aboutchron/archives/2005/06/its_a_hoax.html Still, the fact that it could happen is frightening enough for me.

I have heard something like this before plus has anyone though about how many germs are in one of those ball pits kids go in their with runny nosed, poopy dipaers, rashes on their bodies, picking their noses, etc and I have never seen anyone clean those things. I would be scared to let my kids in one of them.

I LOVED ball pits when I was a kid. But more and more stories are coming out about how dangerous they are! One mother in Texas was lucky and got her son to the Dr. asap, but he had been bitten by a rattlesnake. Another had fire ants in it that had bitten a kid. Another had a few rattlesnakes in it that ended up killing a kid... I think for my childs safety I would just buy a setup ball pit that costs like $20 and just have it at home where I can clean it and make sure nothing dangerous is in it, but they can still have fun.
