Have you moved recently and have you made any friends?

We moved away from family and friends for my husband to start his career. I was just devastated when he told me the location of his job offer. It was mainly because I didn't want my kids growing up away from family. Well, our new home here in Ithaca, NY has been nice and it's a beautiful place with a lot of outdoor activities. We've done many things around here, including visiting friends that ended up living nearby (hours away still). However, we have not managed to make any new friends. This is mainly our faults since we are content on hanging out amongst ourselves. How about you? Have you made new friends in your new place of residence? Do you try or did it just happen?
