Do your pets see ghosts?

How many times have you been sitting quietly with your cat or dog when suddenly they look up, ears and whiskers quivering? Then they jump up, or shout, or run away, or do something else rather peculiar. When you look around, you can't see anything at all. There's nothing you can identify that would hae attracted their attention. I've heard it said that cats and dogs are more highly attuned to see otherworldly things that we humans are. So, do you think that your pet can see ghosts or other spirits? Or is there another logical explanation for their weird behaviour?

It was Sab reacting the Silver's ghost that finally made the former roommate and I talk about what we had been seeing ourselves but not wanting to acknowlege.

The former roomie and I were sitting on the couch across the room when we noticed Sab creaping up on the stereo (that's where Silver spent the last few weeks of her life.) She approched it in a kind of stalking way - but more investigative than hunting way. She slowly jumped on a low table next to it then cauciously came up until she had her front paws on it. She finally sniffed the stereo top, relaxed and jumped down. Have you ever seen a cat when it first meets something like an unknown bug, how it kind of sniffs and jerks back? Well, Sab did that a few times before she relaxed, like she was ready to cut and run at the first sign of danger. That was when the former roomie and I finally talked about what we'd been glimpsing on top of the stereo ourselves.

How did Sab react? And was that the first time you'd noticed a reaction? I've never *known* whether my cats have been reacting to a ghost / spirit or just a noise outside of my hearing.

Hi GreeMoo, I have not seen my cats do anything like that yet. All they ever do is run, jump, play, roll over, and sleep with their paws up. I don't think they are acquainted with ghosts. Now, my dog is different. She has barked at nothing many times. And I have caught her staring into space almost as if she sees something there. When I ask her what it is, she just wags her tail at me. Animals are very very sensitive. They might sense certain unidentified energy fields, ghosts, and what nots. Yup, your pets might have seen something. Hope they don't behave that way inside the house though. It would be scary! Cheers!

I think both cats and dogs have that extra level of conciousness that us humans have lost over the years. Perhaps your cats are just too lazy and happy to take any notice LoL

Well it is cats more than dogs. I have 3 cats and all of do that all the time. I am a clairvoyant and my cats are used to seeing things on the spiritual. There have been manytimes I will see 1 of my cats walk arround completely nothing and looking at what ever it is they are walking arround too. In my home that kind of stuff is normal.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that the cats were seing something spiritual. I find my cats do this more than the dogs too, although when the dogs do it it tends to frighten the life out of me as they're that much bigger and less graceful! I think animals haven't lost the ability to sense all the things that humans perhaps have.

Cats have very sensitive hearing so it's possible they are just hearing something a long way away we can't hear and it's not anything supernatural. I do believe that animals are more likely to see or sense ghosts though as they do not have preconceptions about that kind of thing and don't doubt or disbelieve it they just see it and react.

I expect you're right, on both counts. My other half reckons that they just see spiders, or cobwebs, or something else similar moving but it wouldn't surprise me at all to know that they sensed something else completely.

Cats and dogs both, but I do notice it more with my cats. Perhaps they are slightly more sensitive? I don't know.
