i posted a question to a health forum asking why i get a runny nose and headache any time i try to exercise. usually with cardio, like the treadmill or long walks. after a month someone answered and said it sounded like exercise induced asthma. i had never heard of it but i'm going to ask my doctor about it. anyone else have this problem? and what do you do about it?

I have read about this but I am not an expert to say any guaranteed opinion on the matter. I do have asthma before and my asthma is triggered by to much physical stress. So what I did was started out with slow pace exercise. Luckily, my asthma was cured. I could not say if it was the reason why my asthma was gone.. perhaps it was just coincidence or perhaps it was really the reason. Now going back to your situation, the best would be is to get an expert medical advise.

I wouldn't be so quick to self diagnose. There may be many other possibilities. Definitely check with your doc and tell him/her all of your symptoms. My daughter has asthma and exercise is one of her triggers. She gets really hot, almost a fever. Her face gets blotchy, her chest feels like someone is stepping on it(her explanation). Sometimes she'll get a headache, this is common with asthma since your brain gets lets oxygen. Sometimes she gets a runny nose, but that's not her asthma, that's her allergies and sinus problems. Sometimes she gets a little wheezy if she's been active for a long period of time. I try to encourage her to use her inhaler before she starts a rigorous activity. If she doesn't, sometimes she will have to stop, use her inhaler, and do some breathing exercises before continuing her activity. Hope this helps!
