I used to mark the best response when I was very active on this forum, but now, I participate her, this is one of the few bouts of contributing to this forum that I have had over the past 18 months or so. It is a long while since I have initiated a new discussion, and recently I don't think that I have participated in more than ten discussion in a day over the last three-four days.
My older unresolved ones either have no responses/too few response, or too many responses for me to check on and award a response.

I was going to say that I've seen you responding to quite a few of my discussions (thank you!) I'm not as active here as I used to be--I really have things to do for a change! Your ranking number indicates how active you used to be--1900+ posts--that's impressive!

That's 1900+ responses over more than a year and a half.
I find your q's interesting, and maybe that yours truly also happens to be a scorp has got something to do with?
Actually I don't believe too much in astrology, no offense intended.

Actually, I've always been a "gotta know it" type girl. I do happen to be a Scorpio (I took forever to come out--2 1/2 weeks+ late!), but I wanted to share my birthday with a cool holiday (my original due date was Columbus Day, but I wanted to be different and took All Soul's Day--maybe that explains my penchant for wearing all black?
)

I much prefer to wait until I receive a response that justifies being classed as "Best response" before making a decision. It can be difficult if I receive a large selection of worthy replies, but if they are all poor then I shall leave the discussion as unresolved.

I try to wait at least a week or longer; it is harder to find quality responses lately though!
Of course, right after I select one, another one comes along and I think, 'wow, that's a really great point!', although I can't go back and change my mind...

I agree--I should learn to trust my instincts more often!

Only 4 pages? I've got like 8 or 9! I try to go back and look at my old discussions and see if I think they merit a best response. I didn't do it at first when I started, but I have recently. Just because I only get one response, doesn't mean I should give them a best response by default if they didn't put much into their post or seem ill-informed about my discussion matter.

hi scorpiobabes!..does "getting" a best response review matter? does it effect the star ratings? i do not like to have a discussion open for too long so i have been pretty good about picking a best response. so far most discussions i have started i was looking for some advice that i could use right away to resolve a personal issue. the issues are gone now so i closed the discussion. if i did not get anyresponse to a topic will it remain open forever? is there a way close these or will the administration delete nonresponsive posts after a limited time?

I think that best responses help with your star rating (someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
), but since I don't have that many, I'm not sure if they help with ratings. As for the open discussions with no responses--I think they do stay open until you get a response to close them (some of mine are a year old! I don't think they do anything with them.

Periodically, I like to go through the Discussions with No Responses link if I have time, just to answer someone's discussion!
It's hard--I've gone 30+ pages and they're still from the same day!
I'd love if myLot could come up with a way to resolve your own discussions--it would clean up the site too!

I have also a some pages of unresolved discussions. I tried to do the same as well for some discussions that really need to be rated some best responses. So far, since the day I joined these site I have strive to post quality contents so that I could get some best response but I failed and I was frustrated because it happened only once to me. I got one best response so far so I will still do my best still and I would really be enjoying my stay here and the extra cash will be there. Have a great time my dear friend. ^_^

I work hard crafting answers to others' discussions too--and barely get any Best Responses. Some discussions seem like the Best Response was selected too soon--almost like a rush to hurry up and resolve it!
Don't let it upset you too much--your time will come!
