No, it doesn't. Beauty is art and art is beauty, and as the saying goes, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

well it's actually because a friend of mine invented a type of painting and showed me how to do it ...which is easy to do but it looks really complicated, so whenever I get compliments on my art i feel guilty.

Don't feel guilty. Accept the compliment. Some people are not artistically inclined, but appreciate art, no matter how "easy" the artist thinks it is. Just because you think its "easy", doesn't mean someone else will think the same thing. The fact that you did it, makes all the difference.

Art does not necessarily have to be complicated to be admired. It is more in the eyes of how the audience will see it and respond to it. I think oftentimes we tend to marvel the complicated art works more because it is much easier to imagine all the time and effort it took to get the end result you see whereas sometimes when it is more simple (and sometimes much, much more difficult to achieve with such precision than it looks) our reaction is that it looks so easy, and therefore, if anyone can supposedly do it with minimal effort, then what is so special about it. A lot of people who aren't as educated on the aesthetic side of things tend to do this rather than see if there is a deeper meaning behind it all. But the truth is, sometimes art is putting a lot of blood and tears and sweat into something in order to get it just right. Other times, the artist is not shooting for any sort of particular perfection or purpose but rather illustrating what is in his or her heart at the moment. Sometimes that can be something seemingly sparse and trite or rather abstract with no direct explanation for what it is trying to convey, however, admiration shouldn't necessarily be based solely on how complex something looks to the naked eye. Sometimes it just takes a different way of seeing.

nope, just go to a museum and you will see an all red/white/wtv painting. That is not complicated at all to make, yet some people admire it and buy it for thousands. Art is not necessarily complicated, modern art can sometimes look like a kid just threw paint everywhere or it can be a single object placed in the middle of a room. It is not how complicated the art is, it is how much the viewer can find by looking at the art. Its like a poem, or a phrase, you can find so much meaning (even if it was unintended) in them and so they become special to you, you admire it. But in reality it can be a simple phrase that not much thought was put into.
