As many of you know I started a discussion about the vicious tags that are added to our friends discussions...Now I was thinking in terms of writing to MyLot with the idea of eliminating the tagging system all together...but then another MyLotter came up with this idea that even sounds better to me.
Okay here's the idea.
How about if we ALL write MyLot with this suggestion. I think, and someone could enlighten me, that the tagging system IS actually needed as then the keywords then suggests which ads are placed throughout the discussions. So if the tagging system is really needed then how about this idea brought forth by the other MyLotter.
What if every time someone adds a tag, the NAME of the person adding the tag is shown, to show the origins of who placed the tag...sort of "Tag entered by...(name of MyLotter)" That way there is a record of who added the tag...this would discourage anyone from placing vicious, nasty and abusive tags on discussions as the name of the person adding the tag would be displayed..
what do you think? Could this be done? Will you write MyLot with this suggestion? I am.

I suggested that each response box has a Tags area at the botton and when you post your response and tag your tag would appear in your response box

Now that is a good idea too - it seems that you are full of them, well done! If the tags are put underneath your response then it would be fairly obvious what was said about whom. Great ideas!

I might be one of the few people who remember this, but about 6 months go - giver or take - when there were weird things popping up on MyLot. something strange happened. When someone would enter a tag it would appear under their post. If they would turn that feature back on, you would know who put up which tag.

That's weird..I don't remember that..and I've been here a year--unless I just never noticed it period..like I said for the most part I never really pay attention to the tags usually unless some really nasty tag is added to a person's discussion...kind of leaps out at you then

I don't know if that could be done but it is a outstanding idea. Because if someone had to put there name to the tag they would be less likely to put a vicious tag there. I will send a message to mylot also. I don't know if they can but they will consider it at least.

Or mylot could arrange it so only the person who started the discussion can add the tags. That way noone can add any, abusive or not.

Actually, this idea was mentioned by a member quite sometime ago, and this member even knew the maximum amount of tags that could be added. I think I remember who usually tags this way, but could be wrong. Since then, when I start a discussion, I try to place as many tags on it as possible. Good idea.

OMG YOU'RE RIGHT!! THAT IS BRILLIANT!! And it would do one of two things..Either the trolls would STOP with their nonsense OR we would know who is doing it and have it handled accordingly ya know..Either way it'd solve a lot of flipping problems IMO....
I'm game for writing Mylot about it without a doubt!!

I think this is much ado about nothing. Why is it so difficult for you to make tags? You can skip it if you don't like tagging. I do like tagging and should I have to be a victim of your way of thinking? I am not going to organize a revolution or a movement here at mylot. There are mechanisms for getting heard and if you write them I am sure they will consider it.

I think you are misunderstanding the point...Its not that MAKING tags is too difficult its the trolls anonymously adding vicious, cruel tags to certain ppls threads...Some of the ones popping up lately have been just vile..

I think it is very good idea, and shall send off a note as well. I guess I just do not see why people have to do such things. Why do people have to be mean, just for the sake of being mean. Makes no sense to me. Good luck I hope a solutions comes.

Since you started this have you noticed today that when you tag a discussion I don't think they are adding them at the bottom of your discussion? Try it. I just did a couple of times, I purposefully made a typo in the tag and it didn't come up!

that is a good idea and would help in stopping people bashing others as much with tags. But i know that tags are used to sort discussions and for search engines that pays for this site. So i know they would not get rid of them but if they did place a name of who sent it then that would help in many ways. because if you tag a good response then it might lead people to go to your discussions as well. What do you all think?

Great idea Pye, let's see if mylot does anything about this. Personally I wish they would do away with the tags and stars all together. I wish they would let us all vote on certain things that we want in this forum.

they could probably do a mouseover with that-hover over the word,see who added it.
failing that,make them hidden.i think the tags are only for the internal search engine anyway.we really don't need to see them at all.

Well it's really a wonderful idea but i think the page won't be looking good if there's a line "Tag entered by……" But we can still do it like this we don't change anything of the original page i mean tags but when we move our mouses on the tag the user who add the tag will be shown.
I don't know if this is practical because many mylot need some kind of code to make it come true, maybe java or something else like that.
