For me, the worst is Dolores Umbridge (although i like her pink stuffs). The best is Remus Lupin (was he a teacher? i'm not sure..hehe)..

I think that the best teacher would have to be Remus Lupin. He really let the students learn and have fun. For the worst teacher, it really is a tie for me. I think its down to Delores Umbridge and Gilderoy Lockhart. Umbridge had way too many rules and her punishment was on the verge of abuse. Lockhart wasn't a real teacher and knew absolutely nothing. Everything he claimed he did was done by other people.

was Lockhart the one who got crazy?

Yeah, I think he went crazy, anyway. He was the one who claimed other's stories as his own and tried wiping Harry's memory when he found out. He ended up using Ron's broken wand so it hit him instead.

Yeah I remember Lockhart..Thanx RenaCeline! He surely is a bad teacher, claiming other people's triumphs. I almost forgot him but now i remember he was that bad guy who used Ron's wand but the spell backfired to him which made him crazy.

I agree with your choices. Lupin was definitely the best. He knew what he was talking about and he actually taught the kids something. Umbridge had her own sick agenda hoping to get rid of a few kids, especially if those kids were muggle born. I love how Fred and George got her back though.

I love that too! I sooooo love Fred and George. They are the best in doing these really tricky stuffs for the Hogwarts students. Yeah Umbridge has this sick plan of her own to get rid of Muggles. The way she treats them is really rude and stupid.

Yeah.. you're definitely right... I don't like that frog-liked teacher Dolores Umbridge. She's a worst hag ever!!!.. Best is Lupin.. He has a good heart and a good teacher. Even though he's a werewolf he didn't harm anybody... I also like the original mad-eyed moddy...

as far as i remember.. in the order of the phoenix book. Mad-eye moody is one of the best auror. He was appointed by Dumbledore as Dark arts teacher in the Goblet of Fire. But in the later part of the book he's just an impostor. He was attecked by Barty Crouch Jr. The real Alastor Moody was always imprisoned in his magical trunk. What series of Harry potter book have you read? I can say that it's interesting... God bless to you

i also like the original mad-eye moody. He has been helping Harry as part of the Order of the Phoenix. I can't remember why his eye became like that. Do you remember?

I've read all books already. From Sorcerer's Stone to Deathly Hallows. But I just can't remember why Moody got such eye. Anyway, thanks for the info. Now i remember. You must be one such big, great fan of Harry Potter series. You know every single detail. Keep it up!

I agree with you too to some extent. I really hate Dolores Umbridge and she was just the worse along with Lockhart. I love Lupin and he did a wonderful job teacihng that subject. Now I was thinking of Snape. I think that he would have done a good job too. But I don't think she really went into too much details when he was teaching the subject. Or am I wrong?

Yeah I know. To tell you the truth I honestly did like Snape from the beginning. But after reading the last book I fell in love with him and I cried tremendously. I read all the books and I'm thinking of going back to revisit them.

Yeah you're right ayumitakashi! Rowling did not talk about Snape a lot during his teaching days of Defense Against the Dark Arts. Maybe because she was talking a lot about him and his personality in books 1-5 and most especially in book 6 where he is the Half-Blood Prince. By the way, what books have you read already?

I cried while reading book 7 too. It proved that Snape was a good person inside despite his rude treatment to Harry, Ron and Hermione. I'm currently rereading all the books. I just finished Book 1, 5, and 6. Hehehe. I read them randomly because i still don't have an ebook for book 7 and book 2. Do you have these?

I guess we're all pretty much in agreement that Remus was the best, followed by Moody, then they just get worse probably with Quirrel the least of the worst, then Lockhart. It's gotta be a toss up between Snape and Umbridge but I think Umbridge wins out. Snape was mean, but I think he did actually teach them stuff.

Yeah, I think that Snape is one of those wonderful characters that's really caught between what he really wants to do and what he knows he has to. I don't know though, do you think that he was purposfully being hard on Harry to "toughen him up" for when he had to fight Voldemort? Like when he was running away with Malfoy after killing Dumbledore and Harry was chasing after him. He kept turning around and yelling stuff about "close your mind" and doing silent spells and stuff, like he was trying to help Harry be tough.

I guess i agree with you. Snape was just being hard on Harry because he wanted him to learn things the hard way to prepare him for his future battles with Voldemort. Rowling was very good in presenting Snape's character. all along, i was thinking he is an ally of Voldemort. But when i knew that he wasn't, I was like "REALLY?". hehehe! Did you believe so too?

i believe Snpae was just mean to Harry because of his past experience with James..But he is a good person though..Do you think so?

That's true...the worst is Dolores Umbridge,, she's just so unlikeable...next in line would be Professor Lockhart, he's just so dumb.haha.. but his dumbness was so funny... he just knew nothing at all...and he is great in bragging! haha! Even if he knew nothing at all about Defense against the dark arts, he's much more likeabel compared to the toad-looking Dolores Umbridge,, haha! The best is definitely Remus Lupin...he's the coolest too!! haha

Snape is perfect for the job...haha...Mad-eye moody wasn't really mad-eye moody when he became professor but I think he was rude to teach the unforgivable curses in class...

Oh! Did he teach unforgivable curses? I can't remember that. Me and my very forgettable mind. Hehe. But i think he was just being practical during those times when Voldemort was starting to rise in power.

For myself I'm a bit torn on this. For the worst its a toss up between Umbridge and Lockheart. Both were miserable teachers but for different reasons. Neither one of them should have ever been teaching those classes but if they hadn't we wouldn't have our story For best teacher as well I am torn. I loved Lupin and thought he was fantastic but so was Mad Eye Mooney (even though it was Barty Crouch Jr in disguise). Both taught the students what they needed to learn and survive. They had very different methods but they both excelled in the posts.

I was trying to think on that and I don't think they showed that much in the book on what all he taught. She didn't go into the detail with him as she did with the other teachers in the post.

i think so too..maybe because Snape's life was discussed thoroughly in Book 6 where he is the Half-Blood Prince and also in Book 7. Rowling really didn't give an exact account on his performance as a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Sometimes, I believe I like him because even though he has this anger for Harry because of what his father did to him, he still helped him during Book 1 where Harry was cursed during his first Quidditch Match. Do you remember that too?

I agree with you wholely! I loved Remus as a DADA teacher. I wanted to strangle Umbridge though. She rubbed me the wrong way and I just wanted to strangle her.

Count me in k1tten! I want to kick her and do to her the things she did to Harry. It's like I want to revenge for Harry. She's a freak, crazy woman.

Well my fave would have to be remus Lupin, he was a great teacher and only went a bit crazy once a month (at full moon). I think lockhart be close behind as the second best, as he would be such a fun teacher to have, a mini celeb too! Worse would be umbridge as she was just evil and snape, as he was just mean! Though the teacher in bk 7 seemed even worse!

Lupin wins the Defense Against the Dark Arts post! Hohoho! Was Lockhart the one who asks people if they want his autograph? Because I remember having some character like that. I'm just not sure if he was that.

I think the worst DADA teacher is Lockhart. He did't teach any useful things to the students.I think the Best DaDA teacher is between Lupin and Snape. the DADA lessons when snape was the teacher wasnt really showed in the book but i think he was great.
