As much as you don't want to take a pain reliever tablet, you're not going to get addicted to a Midol and that is the only thing that helps me is some sort of medication. Trust me, sometimes it gets so bad that I have to take a narcotic to get rid of the pain. No worries, I was prescribed it!

I would like to suggest that perhaps a heating pad might help as it might improve circulation in the area. Exercise might help as well. Warm milk which is nurturing and the avoidance of tea and coffee might also help. I have heard some people speak about primrose oil. I do not know if this would help you but it does help some people. I have heard from some people that the first day of the time of month is when they are often feeling the pain and suffering of all women everywhere and not just their own pain... recognizing that this is indeed the case and finding ways to deal with it by offering the pain up as a sacrifice for the healing and liberation of the world might be a good practice. Resenting this noble time might make the problem worse than accepting it as the miracle that it is as it indicates that your body is capable of having child. Getting adequate rest, lying down, and relaxing might help... in the old days, there were in some places moon lodges where women could go to spend the time in dreaming and in visioning for their villages. They were not allowed in those times to cook food for the men or to do other chores but were told to rest. They were waited on by the other women of the village. Nowdays you are stressed and in need of rest and are not often taking the opportunity to do as your body requires and this does not help you. If you are really in a lot of pain, you may want to go to a gyn or doctor that specializes in women's issues as it is possible that you are having some problem that could be assisted with medical treatment. Wishing you speedy relief of your symptoms.

I suggest that you see an OB to see if everything is okay with you. Sometimes dysmenorhea is a symptom of an illness so I suggest better see an OB. You should also avoid drinking sodas or anything that has cafeine, have some exercise and and eat bananas and drink lots of water to lessen the pain. Also try to have a hot compress everytime you feel the pain. Im doing all these and it lessen the pain. I hope it works for you too.
