Which do you like better, the smell of grapefruit or the smell of lavender? I love the smell of lavender oil and do not really like the smell of grapefruit oil but may try to get some in the future as it might be better to use it in the morning to wake up and then to use the lavender at night to sleep better... I was doing a bit of googling and found that scientists have found that lavender oil, when it is used on rats causes the rats to be more relaxed, more happy and fatter and that grapefruit oil causes them to be more awake, more tense and more thin. I think that it effects human beings the same way. Lavender is used often in products as it is relaxing. Grapefruit is used at times but not as much because it is stimulating. There is one precautionary measure for those of you who have young sons...Avoid having them use products with lavender oil and tea tree oil. I have also found, from reading studies on the net, that lavender oil and tea tree oil should not be used by boys who are in or about ready to go into puberty as it can cause in some of them increased breast growth because it mimics estrogen, female hormone, and decreases the effectiveness of the androgen, male hormone, which inhibits breast growth. The problem of the increased breast growth in the boys did go away once the products with lavender and tea tree oils in them were abandoned. Which do you like better: the smell of lavender or the smell of grapefruit oil?

It is interesting that the lavender oil has been tested and has been found to relax rats and people... I love it... I really like to use Dr. Bronner's magic soap in the Lavender scent. It is wonderful. I am glad that it helped your husband's gout when he had it and that it takes away headaches. Hoping that you will always remain free of them.

That was impressive research. I hope a lot of people read it and benefit from your words. Grapefruit smell is invigorating to me and lavender relaxes. I choose lavender oil because my brain is always on over-drive!

Lavender is great. I have a teacher who works with Pranic Healing and he raves about Lavender's oil's high vibe and encourages people to use it in addition to talking salt baths. I do the Lavender but often forget the salt baths... prefering showers with Dr. Bronner's magic soap.

Just to let you know that was only in rare children... boys who are preteens and the excess growth will leave once the products are stopped.

I don't know that I like either one of them but, if I had to pick, I would say Grapefruit oil...assuming it smells like grapefruits! LOL! But, that is useful info about Grapefruit oil, both as a stimulant and the effect it has on boys. I should get some grapefruit oil and see if it helps wake me up in the AM. I have heard and read about the relaxing effect Lavender has but, I have never really tried to see if it works on me or not. Thank you for the info.
