Hi! I now of halo-halo and I miss it too but I havent heard of 'ginataang' halohalo. Is it safe to say that when food is cooked 'ginataan' it has coconut milk, hence the term 'gata' right? I know that most halohalo and the most that ive usually eaten only just have milk and ice and sugar as the base and then the otehr ingredients are put in like yam, sago, kaong, and all the other stuff. How does a ginatang halohalo taste like? Can you give a description or something? Maybe its the same but has the distinct taste of coconut in it? Im curious to know and to one day taste this. Where can I find this kind of halohalo? Another random fact learned here on myLot. Thanks for the info.^_^

Ginatang halohalo or ginatan has a sticky white soup due to the coconut milk or gata.It is sweet and tasty. It is serve hot unlike the halohalo which is served with ice and milk. The halohalo has mixture of nuts and sweetened fruits while the ginatan is mixture of saba, sago or tapioca, bilobilo, langka and sweet potato. It is rare now

Oh! right, gets, I uderstand now. You mean 'Ginataan'. We odnt call it with 'halohalo'. We just usually refer to it as Ginataan. It has sago too right? We usually have it as a snack in the afternoon and I miss it too. I dont get to eat it as much anymore. My grandma used to cook t for us grandkids and she would make a huge pot full of it. She cant cook anymore. Our hired help knows how to make one but its not as good as my grandmas. Still its ginataan.^_^
