Does the internet going slow deter you from writing here at mylot?

THe last few days my internet has been running really slow, it is starting to deter me from writing or responding to many posts here at mylot as it takes forever just to submit a post. I am with wireless broadband, however, when we go over 4GB for the month our internet speed is slowed right down. Unfortunately my partner does alot of downloads on his computer which uses lots of giga bytes, therefore the net is really slow. Getting pretty frustrated, some sites aren't too bad to still to go on, but I find mylot is slow to load a page at the moment. Does anyone else here get put off writing posts if there internet speed is running slow?

Yeah in the past, that really affected me. it gets so boring waiting for the pages to load. but then i found other things to do, like posting in other forums and visiting my blog. when i come back, the page has done loading and i would post. at least i don't have to wait for so long doing nothing. that is what i do. good day and happy posting here at mylot!

Good idea, don't know why I don't do that myself, might have to start doing that as I am getting pretty bored waiting. I spend more time waiting then I do writing. Have a great day, appreciate your response.

Hi Garfield, yes I think the fact that there are alot of people here at the same time on this site would slow mylot right down. Also as this site has many pictures to load on each page I think that may be another reason why it is slow to download. Sometimes I find the speed not too bad but lately it is very slow for me, I was thinking maybe it is just my computer.

Snap!! The last few days mine has been a nightmare too, it is on go slow for some reason, we have unlimited broadband so it cannot be that. Personally I think that I need to clear the history and all the junk that is stored on it, but if I do that then I lose all my passwords that are stored in and I do not know if I have written them all down!! Sometimes it puts me off although I tend to just sit here and shout at the computer and tell it to get a move on!!

Snap, lol, very funny. Why don't our computers listen to us, they need to get the wax out of their ears and start listening, he he. Yes I know what you mean about deleting the history on the computer, I am worried about losing all my passwords too. However I try and use the same password for alot of the sites I am on as I am very forgetful, lol. Maybe you could try and delete the cookies only on your computer that may help. But it seems like quite a few people here are experiencing problems with the speed of mylot, maybe it isn't our interent then. Hope it speeds up soon.

At times, mylot becomes very slow and it takes considerable time to upload a page, which frustrates me too. My g-mail also simultaneously go slow on some occasions, which makes me more irritated. I work through G-mail and when both mylot and G-mail slow down, I just feel very bad. But what to do.......we will have to bear with it, I suppose........LOL!

Yes I am bearing with it, lol, but not liking it, grrrr. My yahoo account is also slow at the moment, think it is filled with too many emails in the inbox, alot from mylot discussions. I thought the slowness of this site was mainly due to my internet speed but it appears a few people on here are experiencing the same problems so maybe it is this site. But I will still post here, can't keep my away from here, lol. Have a great day.

I have always found mylot to be very very slow, but ever other site quick. I dont know why, but i think it is either something to do with my isp, or the actualy mylot website :/ Chris

I think it has to do with the pictures that it has to load on each page and maybe the amount of people on the site at the same time.

I am suffering with the Internet right now. Our dorm (4 people) use one ADSL account. It works quite perfectly at the beginning. But I don't know what's wrong this semester, the speed of the whole network is extremely slow. It even breaks from time to time. Tonight, I can hardly use mylot. It really sucks.

That would suck sharing the internet with 4 other people that would definately slow the speed right down. Hope it speeds up for you soon.

I hope so. But it seems that it don't want to be better. Now I use the Internet when I am alone in the dorm.

Yea,it would really make anyone frustrated who has slow internet connection at the moment. And by the way,is all sites slower?Or is it only Mylot? I some times experience this problem. All the other sites will be going good, but only mylot will be very slow. During those times,I sign out of Mylot, and do some other work and come back to mylot after a few hours. Some times, the mylot servers are very slow on rare occasions. Cheers! Have a great day Happy mylotting and happy earnings.

It is mainly mylot that is slow to load, but some other sites too like forums that I visit. I think this site is slow due to the amt of people here and pictures on each page to dowload, plus my internet speed being slowed down. Have a great day too, appreciate your response.

No, it can be very annoying but does not affect my posting at Mylot. If the connection is slow then I usually type the responses into Microsoft Word and copy them into Mylot. It can still be irritating waiting for the page to turn, but it is not a major problem.

if it's one of those days where it's as slow as molasses, yes it does for me.once in awhile the page times out repeatedly while i'm waiting for the reply to go through, and promptly dumps what i just wrote. i'll usually sign out and come back later when it's not as bad. i just have no patience for that when it's constantly doing it.

I'm the same exact way. I expect my computers to run fast and to their highest speed all the time. I understand there are many factors that affect how fast our computers run, but in my opinion there's no excuse! I have the same kind of Internet connection you do at home. Wireless broadband is amazing, and I'm rarely disappointed in it. Here at work, I have some high-speed connection that's on the network, whatever they happen to use. (All I know is that it has to be fast at work so we can get things done in a timely manner.) A slow Internet connection really does disappoint me when it comes to myLot because, although I can type fast, my posts here are only as fast as my Internet connection! I have a new computer at home, so I know there's something wrong with the Internet when it goes slow because my computer isn't ever the problem! I love getting all of my things done on my computers in a timely manner. I absolutely hate being held up because something isn't working properly as it should. I guess it's kind of like fast food. You expect to have somewhat good service, but more than that you want your food prepared fast. If it isn't out and ready by a certain point, you already know there's something wrong because that's not the way it should go. Yes, Internet speed affects a lot of things for me, probably even more than I realize! I'm glad you brought up this topic because I feel very much dependent on my Internet. Thanks and great post!

I completely agree with you. I'm to the point where I'll have to start paying for my Internet connection since I moved recently. I'm, of course, going to try my best to find the best rate and for the fastest connect speed. If we're paying for it, we might as well "have it our way," like they say at McDonald's. (LOL) Thanks for your comment! (Funny how we liken Internet speed to fast food service, huh? Ha, ha!) Take care.

Lol, yes I expect fastfood service too when purchasing wireless broadband. That is what we pay for after all. We should demand some freebies lol for taking so long.

Oh I thought it was just me who had an unreliable internet connection. I didn't realise the problem was so common! So thanks for posting this discussion. I know now that I am not alone. The answer is yes it does sometimes deter me from writing more at myLot, on days when my connection is not up to speed. If it is really bad and keeps disconnecting I will close my laptop and go out, or do some writing offline.

Oh, I absolutely do. Our service is DSL and because of our remote location it can be quite finicky. I do give up when it starts running super slow because it is just too frustrating!

Yes it does hamper my discussions in myLot. I lose the flow of writing and end up tearig my hair. LOL.. It indeed it frustrating! In India, slow internet speed is a common thing and I do not have a broad band connection. Which i why most of my internet time gets wasted.

Don't tear too much hair out, lol. Yes it is a shame when you have broadband and it is still slow internet speed. I think I need to find another internet user, at the moment I am with Virgin broadband. WHo are you with?

You are right. I was frustrated with the speed of my internet whole of last week - now it is getting better. Definitely i had to put off my plans to writing in Mylot, due to this. Ironically, i thought of writing, inter alia, a post on this topic, but you have overtaken me!

You are right, the internet can be so slow sometimes especially if you have a limit on your access. Well unfortunately I don't have high speed connection, but I find that Opera browser has myLot going really fast (faster than Firefox and Internet Explorer), you can give it a try if you would like: www.opera.com I wouldn't give up posting even if your connection is slow, okay? I can understand how crawling internet speeds can kill one's enthusiasm, and it is not just posting in myLot, but other sites as well downloading images and videos, making bookings, researching for info, etc. I have been quite fortunate with myLot. Most of the time, I get reasonable to good speed when accessing myLot site. Only occasionally it gets a little slower but generally I have no major complaints about slow internet where accessing to myLot is concerned.

i have DSL but for some reason mylot runs slow on here for me when i send my post it takes forever to get to the tag or submit page. Then after i try to get off of that page it takes way to long and slows down me posting more each night. But it is fast on any other site. I don't know why because i pay a lot to have fast service and it doesn't help for mylot.

I often meet with this situation.at the bagging I was really frustrated, and I couldn't post any discussions or responses. now,I have gotten used to it.I fist open some discussions, and then I resort to other web sites I am interested with. when I come back to mylot. the pages have been download entirely. I can easily post or respond. now,I can happily enjoy myself as mylot.
