Yes, I was on them for about 7 years until recently as of March. I got way to addicted. I am still fighting the addiction. It was bad and still is. I would not suggest it. I would try to find something as an alternative such as ativan or something milder. But if you want to get a good high then go for it. If you really need them though then you won't get that high.

I have never tried them. My ex takes them and they really help with his social anxiety disorder. He took a lot of them among other things one time and tried to kill himself. His doctor still prescribes them for him which I was amazed. My ex says its the only thing that works. Without them hes just insane. Even with them hes still pretty bad. Right now he took some and passed out on my couch. I'm not happy about it.

Well, I can only speak from my own personal experience. I have taken xanax for anxiety before, and I didn't get addicted or react badly to it. It calms me, and makes me feel a bit better, but I wasn't wacked out or anything. But everyone is different, I don't really have an addictive personality, so I can take them as much as I want really, and I can take them or leave them. I was prescribed them at one time, but now I can't go to the dr because no insurance, so I occasionally will get one from my mom, if I'm really anxious or something, but just if I'm really bad. So it's really a personal choice, if you are afraid you will get addicted or react badly to them, then ask for other options, but if you think you could handle it, then trying it once probably wouldn't hurt.

I have taken Xanax for 9 yrs. now and I see no reason for you to be addicted. It really depends on the person. Taking it abusively will lead to addiction. Anyway it depends also on the person its side effects. When I'm taking it of course it relaxes you (you can't even think of being anxious) but the side effects makes me have that appetite to eat and I mean eat a lot. Also it makes me groggy. But at least I'm not experiencing an anxiety attack anymore.
