Now that the weather is so beautiful I put a humming bird feeder out, haven't seen any yet. I know they're in the area because my sister has a few at her house 5 miles down the road. Anybody know anyway to attract them, I bought the humming bird food in hopes that would be enough, maybe I am missing them or am I too impatient? Do you get humming birds where you live and how do you attract them?

is the feeder placed where it can be seen by a passing hummer? when we first put ours out it sometimes takes a week for one of them to notice it as they fly past. ive been able to spot them doing it too lol! its so cute, i was sittng on the porch and the feeder hangs right at the edge of the eave where it sparkles a bit in the sun (that will really help, if the light shows the bright red color well) i was watching the sparrows and in zoomed a little purple headed male..she was doing a straight shot thru the yard. but i saw him make a u-turn and come rocketing back to the feeder! it was adorable..he checked all the little "flowers" out and tasted them all, then sat there eating off and on for almost 5 minutes! the next day he was back and females were starting to show up too! so after all that, lol, i guess my best advice would be to have the feeder in an open area that gets sunlight. and having other flowering platns in your yard certainly helps..when they check out the flowers they should spot the feeder too.

Thanks, I did move it actually and yesterday for the first time I was out on the deck and a male flew in to the feeder, he was beautiful dark green with a bright red neck. Your right though I was too impatient it took about a week or so for them to spot it, now I'm really excited to see him and more hopefully but today is rainy and gloomy so maybe tomorrow. Thanks for sharing, have a great day!!!
