What's the deal with piercings?

I don't have any, never plan to either. I see a lot of people with piercings and I wonder why they have them. Short of asking them to their face, I think they must love pain or maybe they think its art. Tell me what the big deal is. Am I missing out on an infection or something. Why do people have to pierce their bodies?

I have my ears pierced, but that's all. I have them pierced, because the clip-on ones used to hurt my earlobes after wearing them for a while. I would never get any other part of my body pierced, and I cannot understand why people do this either. I aim to follow this discussion and hopefully find out!

We pierced our daughters ears at 6 months, she didn't like the lady who did it, actually, she gave her a dirty look. It was cute. But I'm with you, ears and that's all. After that it becomes "art", paint something or draw a picture. That what passes for art in my opinion.

You know there are guys whose really curious about their bodies. They even use small metal balls. But this will only lead to infection. Be contented of what you have

It's wonderful to know that I am not the only one who doesn't like body piercings. Body piercing is practiced by those who think they own their body and that they can do anything about it. The world is doing it so most people pattern it from the world standard and have their bodies pierced. What an ugly-looking pierced body!

Thanks for noticing a trend that seems to leave out those who don't want to do it. I've seen some weird looking stuff in my day, I would never hire any of the people who have their faces pierced. Talk about making yourself unmarketable.

I absolutely love body piercings, but maybe its just because I'm a teenager. I'm seventeen, and I've already pierced my friends' ears so many times, not to mention pierced and gauged my own. Maybe its just a phase, but I plan on being a body piercer when I get out of high school. Whatever makes me happy.
