Have you accomplished something that's really tough and you are proud to say ,"I made it!"?
How did you do it?Say,you want to quit drinking ,smoking,or something else in your life. How have you managed to not take a drink or smoke a cigarettefor years ?
If you failed,do you look back and ask yourself why.
My elder cousin haven't smoked for 5 years.I finally have the courage to ask my himr this very personal question. For a few years I was afraid to bring it up for fear the smoking would begin again.
"I had this little poem that I would recite to myself at least four to five times a day.The words were an instant relief and constant reminder to me ,and made me believe that I can make it." cousin said. And then he shared the poem with me. Strangely,I had read the poem before, but it didn't strike me so much.My cousin said,"I don't read much,so I heart what I read when I'm reading. You read too much, but you just forgot what you read mostly. "
The poem’s simple, yet profound. It is called the Serenity Prayer:
God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the Courage to change the things I can; and the Wisdom to know the difference.

I have accomplished giving up smoking when I was younger - although it was easy for me & I don't know why I ever did it. At the moment I am really proud of myself because I have gone on a weight watchers diet & lost 6kg in 4 weeks & am sticking to it really easy!

Hi Gxnfly-yes I have had a few things that I have been able t say 'I've done it myself'-one was when I left a rather bad relationship I was homeless but with helpof 'social'services and the council I got my own flat-then I did stop smoking for quite a while which i was pleased about-and three since have been divorced I have managed to pay some big bills off that I was left with at the time-all I did off my own back and could say 'Yes I did It' and be proud of myself for it to-littleowl

that is one of the most simplest and yet profound prayer poems that I have ever heard. It is very beautiful and I cherish it always.

I've stopped drinking and smoking for at least 3 yrs.. hehe ^_^ It's a decision whereby most ple will only say, but never do it.. Because they say they cant.. Actually it's all in the mind.. It's your self control and determination that make it works.. ANd most importantly is self belief, if u believe u can do it, u will definitely do it.. After all, smoking and drinking is not really an addiction, but rather habit..
