The passing of the school bus!!!!!

Well it looks like my morning is starting off so peachey. The bus driver has started to pick my kids up at the house because the kids that were the only other pick up on this street moved, they still have to be picked up at the original stop in the afternoon though. Well this morning the kids are waiting with me on the front porch of our house my other two ride a special bus for kids that have special needs or have a IEP. Because My other two have IEPs and becuase of their ADHD they tend to be a little more active and in need of a chaporone on the bus. LOL!!!! So we're waiting for the bus and well here it comes and also here comes another large vehicle which is hard to get by on our road. So the bus driver instead of stopping drives right by and rather quickly too. So know I have to wait til 8:45 -8:50 to take then to school now.. I'm tired of this yahoo driving. YOu either do what you say or keep crap the same that way the kids and me aren't put out. At 3.62 a gallon I don't want to be taking my kids to school every other day. The school gets funds to pick my kids up .. We pay school taxes that are raised, so I feel like I should start charging the school every trip that I take. grrrr. Ever have a problem with a school bus? It can be from not getting your child to what goes on , on the bus. How does it make you feel about the transportation? How does it make you feel period? Do you think there should be a bus that comes in place of the bus that forgets to get them?

Hay Bella, I would be raising cain with the transportion departion. My daughter also drives a school bus. If she misses a stop, she must go back to it!!What the heck is going on up there? You have to raise enough hell!! I would not be driving them to school either with gas prices the way they are..That is why they send those bus's in the first place. Is it Laidlaw that transports them up there? You are right our tax's are much to high, and tose bus driver's get paid very good to pick the kids up.I think if your child is left behind, they should send another bus to retrieve your child .Just tell those people if they want them in school they have to pick them up, you have no way to get them there!!

Hi Bella, Well you are righ about the pay, it does depend on where you live I guess. My daughter makes out pretty good. This is her only job too and she has a daughter to raise by herself. It does pay all of her bills too. She gets way more than I do on s.s. But any way I am so sorry about the problem that you are having with this bus situation, it is really a mess for sure.

My problem is getting a bus for my daughter. She starts kindergarten in August. We live just less than 1 mile from the school. At this point we are a 1 vehicle family. The school says we live too close, she will have to walk or we pay for a bus. So it will cost us over $300 for the year, and the district still isn't sure we will be provided a bus.

If you have to pay for it they dang well better provide it. I know that I would be getting my lawyer in there. Especially the age she is .. grrr that upsets me that they take taxes and then have problems providing buses are they idiots?

here where i live.. if you live less than 2 miles from the school.. there is no bus at all for the kids. theyre categorized as "walkers". i live outside the two mile marker.. and hafta pay 300ish dollars per year per kid for the bus. thats on top of the taxes we already pay.

i can really relate to what you are saying... i will also be very upset if the school bus just pass by like that without picking up my children while we are waiting for it... especially if i had already pay for the service... i will definitely make a complain to the school and make themm reimburse my fuel money and my time that i have to spend to send my kids to school... good luck and have a nice day...

Well bella honey I really cannot say much about this as here there is only a very small minority of people who get transportation to school - either if they live miles out of town or they have certain special needs and the majority of those are brought to school by taxi ( who are contracted by the education dept). It must be frustrating though that this happens and then you have to make new plans! Niamh asked me the other day (after watching American tv show) why she couldn't have a school bus? I just burst into roars of laughter as her school is a 2 min walk if that around the corner from us - you can actually see it from her bedroom window and we can hear the kids out playing during break time! My sons school is about 10 mins walk away though it often takes him 30 - 40 mins! xxxx

We live in the middle of nowhere, so a bus comes by every morning to get my son. He gets picked up at the end of the driveway. I must say that my son's bus driver is the coolest. He only has to pick up one other kid on our road. What he does is drives past and gets the other kid first. He told me that he does this for 2 reasons. 1. So that my son does not have to stand outside and wait 2. So that my son does not have to walk in front of the bus to get on it. So my son gets to sit in the living room and watch his cartoons until the bus goes by. I would be really mad if I were in your position. I would call the school and complain.

I've never had an ongoing problem like this. We usually have a few problems when there is a sub on the bus, like one time they forgot to drop my kids off and had to send another bus to pick them up. If I were you I'd call the school and complain to them. They should always pick your kids up, that's just wrong.

Yep it's wrong but they really don't care around here I think I could b!tch until I'm blue and falling over and the most they would do is node their head and say ok. It's very frustrating...

I have had my share of problems with our bus driver. She comes into our yard to pick up and drop our kids. Unfortunately, she has no concept of respect for other people's property. She has hit and messed up so many things in on our property that it's not funny. We even put a wooden fence up around our front yard and she destroyed it. There is plenty of room on our property for her to turn the bus around without hitting anything. There have been other drivers that have come out here for years and they never damaged anything. She does it on purpose, but they won't do anything about it.

My son rides a special needs bus and they always stop right at the house and wait until I bring him out. When I call transportation it is divided into two sections, regular and special needs, so I can talk to someone in the special nees department. I live in Virginia Beach, though, so it's a huge area. I don't know how other areas do it. I'd call the DOT and raise cain. There is no reason for them to pass you by, especially if you are outside waiting. Because of my son's issues we don't wait outside because I can't trust him not to take off and he'll tantrum if we don't either go straight to the bus or go to the car. He won't just stand outside and wait. He doesn't understand that, so I wait inside by the front door and when the bus is stopped out front, I call him and we go out. I have the driver's cell number and call if he isn't going to school that day so they know not to stop. If I don't call, they know he's going so they stop and wait until I come out, which is usually only a few second after they stop, but they still stop without me standing out there. Call and complain. You are supposed to be provided transportation for your kids, and not just when the driver feels like stopping. If the bus forgets them, they should have to go back and get them. I've had that happen once (we had a sub driver) and they did come back and get him. Let the DOT know what is going on and they should put a stop to it. Good luck!

Here's a good school bus story- BIG thorn in my side. The bus won't come and pick up my daughter because we live to close to the school. So the other day I was driving her to school and I saw the school bus pick up a kid that lived get this- RIGHT across the street. WTF? I was livid and I complained and I saw it again today. I don't get it but I'm not a happy girl especially with the mood I have been in lately.

When I used to catch the bus to high school they used to do that if there were a few of us waiting sometimes, drive right past, the school complained to the bus company eventually and it stopped. I am lucky in that I am only ten minutes away from my kids school and so I just walk them there everyday, I enjoy it too, apart from when it is raining, and it is my exercise too. But when you have to use a bus that is really naughty and I do not blame you for being mad. Is there no one you can complain too about it.

Ah...it was one of my frustrations with public school, yes. We don't have that problem now- we homeschool and we are considering a private school for next year but they don't run buses. Anyway, back to the discussion at hand...it always seemed, too, that we would finally get the whole thing figured out and relax a little bit because things had been running smoothly. There would be a sub who went by what was written down...and of course the new, smoothly running schedule/routine was never written down. ARGHH!!

grrr bus drivers... wouldja like a list? when my oldest was in school.. the incidents are as follows: she was put onto the wrong bus, not once, not twice.. but three times by the person whose sole responsibility is to make sure the kids all get put onto the proper bus at the school. so on three seperate occaisions, here i am waiting at the bus stop for her to be dropped off.. and lo & behold.. bus driver looks at me blankly and says "she isnt on the bus". twice, they called the school, located what bus shed been put on.. and that other bus routed over to my stop to drop her off.. once however.. the idiot bus driver dropped her off elsewhere on the other side of town!! (she was 6 at the time!) and NO ONE could find her!! i spent 3 hours in a complete fit panic before they finally found her and they didnt find her.. she went to a friends hose where shed been dropped off and their mom called me. worse feeling in the world those three hours.. its unexplainable. anything happen to the people responsible for losing my kid? NO same kid.. new town, different driver.. complaints about him hitting the kids and screaming at them.. and the final straw that led to him being fired? his near running over MY kid while drunk!! hed let the kids off at the stop.. wasnt looking as she crossed the street.. shut the door and started driving while she was right under the bumper! 4 more inches and shedve become grill meat if i hadnt started screaming at him to STOP!! he slammed on the breaks and gamme attitude for yelling at him.. my younger daughter... the bus drivers for some reason, cant remember where our freaking house is or something, cause theyre always just driving right on by.. as they pass i can hear the kids yelling at them to stop to let her off the bus.. and theyre ignored. this has happened so many times that i now stand in the middle of the road when its someone different driving for the day as the bus starts coming down the street and they HAVE to stop or run me over!! one other time shed been put on wrong bus.. but this bus comes down my street as well on the other side.. soo i crossed the street to collect her there (literally.. just across the street is the stop.. its right at my mail box) and the bus driver.. with my kid sitting right there.. REFUSED to let her off the bus! saying that the kids werent allowed to cross the street anymore (maybe has something to do with the aforementioned drunken near run down years before??) and blocked her exit. shes standing there crying, and this woman is holding her on the bus refusing to let her come to her mother (she was merely 5 years old btw) and i had to actually step up onto the bus and threaton to kick the absolute sh*t out of her if she didnt give me my little girl before shed let her off!! we dont have "free" bussing in this town.. on top of the regular taxes we pay for schooling.. after the kids reach 6th grade, we have to pay nearly 300 bucks per year per child for the service.. youd think with the amount of fees the parents have to pay, wed have busses that didnt break down causing students to be 2-3 hours late coming home, and drivers that knew wtf they were doing!!

I had witnesses and the my kids that I have with my ex hubby they don't know him he has nothing to do with them so while I was spending jail time they would be with someone that didn't want the responsibility and had nothing to do with them. I couldn't do that to them. But oh boy if i ever see her in a dark alley I will do it. LOL!!!
