I was just wondering if there is anything that i can download or anything that is safe that will speed up my computer...I am running windows vista(which is probably my problem)and i have one gb of memory i think...and i have already tried the defragmenting...and that did a little bit and i have already uninstalled everything that i think needs to be...so I was just wondering what else i might be able to do to speed up the computer without having to buy more memory!

Which Vista Edition you have? If its home basic , it is slow. Then dont worry about speed.:-( which laptop/computer do u use? go to bias settings there in hardsidk option you will find two options SATA and Some other. Change it to SATA if you have sata HDD. Then go to msconfig and try to stop the startup processes that u dont need. This may help you. And one more thing, try to have separate partitions. Dont load your drive with lot of contents. And one more thing try to gofor RAmM updation this might help you.

Well, if you have tons of music on your computer you may want to find somewhere online to store it or get something to keep it on because music file can slow your computer way down. Found that out the hard way. Also you may want to find an adware program to get rid of adware. That's also another problem that can slow your computer down. Look at updates too. Delete all the old java updates as they just take space and are pretty pointless. Hopefully something I've said helps.

You could try to use the very basic graphical theme, set it to Window Classic Theme. This will channel much of the processing off your graphics and more on your application. You could also try to use a registry cleaner, use the freeware CCleaner http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

If you still want to keep the vista look, at least turn off transparency and animated minimizing. I don't recommend register cleaners. Instead, don't download any programs that you aren't going to use for more than a month.

Try using Tuneup Utilities 2008 it has all the tools you could ever need to speed up your pc and to analyze and problems on your hard-drive(bad sectors) and problems in your OS(most notably the registry). Also get CCleaner as it will remove all those programs windows keeps in the temporary folders for quick access making the pc. take longer to do other tasks. Give these programs a try you wont be disappointed.

Try reducing the number of icons on your taskbar. And even the shortcut icons on your desktop. Running programs during startup also reduces the speed of a computer.

I would say delete the cookies. I learn this from a newscaster, she said always delete cookies. and that will make your computer run a litter faster, and if you have a lot of emails, delete some.

My girl friend also told me to go to tools, and go to history, and clear the search.

Use tuneup utilies or msconfig.exe in system32 to disable unwanted services in vista or increase your ram to 2GB. Second one is the best way.
