There are just so many worthy causes that need ongoing support. Then there are the emergency appeals - such as the cyclone in Burma (Myanmar). If you can't give to everything (oh how I wish I could), how you organize it? Give to only a select few organizations on a regular basis? Give to those organizations, but retain a reserve for emergencies? Only give in an emergency? Right now, I give as I hear about a problem or think about it. Which means a lot of organizations I want to give to, I never do. So, I want to get a little more organized in my giving. Suggestions?

We all make the mistake that its money that is needed. In a case of an emergency (as in Burma) that all we can do. But what about giving our time to a sick child, a homeless person, some one whom we can help fulfill their dreams because we have the know how too. A foster child whom needs a family, so we have them over for dinner. Or take a child to a theme park whom never been there before. There is so much we can do that would mean a lot more than what money can do. One to one contact to a child is much more valued, and the memory will last a lifetime.

Well, of course, one should also give one time. I do that too. Finding time for the groups I support is also another problem. But, when giving money, which is also a limited resource, I need help figuring out the best way to ensure the groups I like don't get lost in the emergency appeals, but that emergencies aren't ignored either.
