Why is it that we, as americans, spend so much for the christmas holiday? I think that we have forgotten what christmas is really about. I feel it is about giving, and not just to friends and family; but maybey someone who is really in need. Do you have any plans of helping someone in need this holiday season?

I never thought about it such strong terms, but yes it has gotten pretty crazy. One thing I was thinking of, and this is personal, I'm not saying everyone should do it, is donating money to the Gideons (the guys who put Bibles in the hotels and jails, etc) to donate Bibles in my family member's names. I think that would mean a lot more than a pretty candle holder. But I have to talk to the husband about it, he'll probably think I am crazy. Last year his grandparents donated money to an international organization who works in third world countries. They have a "catalog" where you "buy" different things like a well or a goat, and they donate them in a person's name. I really appreciated that, and even the little kids liked knowing they helped other people.
