Different Religions

First things first. I don't want this to be one of those discussions where people are telling others that their religion is wrong or that they are crazy for believing. Please! I am currently taking online college courses and I take one class at a time. Right now I am taking a class called Comparative Religion. Basically, we are learning about different religions. The class as just started and it got me thinking about the different religions out there that people believe. So, my question is, what religion are you and what do you believe? I am Holiness, or Southern Baptist. I was raised that they were the same. I believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I also believe in speaking in tongues. I am not perfect by any means, but then no one is. I was introduced to this religion when I was a little girl by my grandmother, God rest her soul. And I absolutely fell in love. I don't attend a church at the moment, mostly because I haven't found one that I feel 100% comfortable at. I am sure that I will though. So, what about you? What do you believe in?

I enjoy Comp. Religion studies and have for a few yrs now..its IMO a great way to learn about the various ppl we share the world with ya know...too bad some ppl can't do it with an openmind though ya know...Things would be so much different if more minds were open.. THAT being said...I am a Pagan Buddhist..More deeply though my personal spiritual path is a blend of Witchcraft of the old ways, Buddhism, Vodou and Native American Spirituality...As for what I believe, well it'd be easier for you to ask specific questions LOL....

I believe in and love and follow YHVH, (my Father G♥d), Y'shua, (G♥d's Son) and the Ruach Kodosh, (The Holy Spirit)..And really it isn't a religion, because that would be bondage, but it is a relationship with a Powerful Creator.. I do attend a congregation, they are Messianic, though the leader is not Jewish, their worship and teaching are like a Messianic.. Since you are learning about this in school, makes me wonder if there is anything about the rise in this type of worship? I heard that many people are questioning and interested in what the early church, (the early church as in the very beginning, not after the Gentiles took over) and that this movement is spreading over the last 10 years..

Hi lovespeciangel, I am a spiritual person and believe that the answers I seek are within me. Remember Jesus said "the kingdom of God is within you". I do not take the Bible literally because there have been so many changes over the years. Don't get me wrong I have read it many times and continue to study it, there is much that is good there. I believe that there is truth in all religions and that life is eternal. Blessings.

ONe thing to remember is there is only one CREATOR of all Things that exist. so no matter how many religions there may be ther is still ONE(God) CREATOR(GOD) that oversee all withing the universe.

Well, I am not to be afraid to talk about Jesus Christ the Son of the living God. I too was brought up in in a Pentecostal atmoshere church. I have signed up for some bible lessons and have not started them as yet. I truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that God sent his only son begotten Son Jeuss Christ in this world to save all those who believe on his name. I believe in speaking ing tongues, and water baptism also. I will say every man to his own religion and God for us all. Keep the faith and continue for Jesus. I read my bible, fast and pray. May Gods' blessings abound with you daily!

I'm agnostic. Pretty easy to find things on that. If you don't know what it is, it's someone who isn't sure if there is a God or not. Or...they need actual proof towards it. =]

I am a level 6 atheist, on the Dawkins scale. That is to say that I believe a God's presence is of "very low probability, but short of zero. De facto atheist. 'I cannot know for certain but I think God is very improbable and live my life on the assumption that he is not there.'" To me, gods are man-made inventions and scriptures are myths. Simple as that. However, atheism is not a religion in itself though. An atheist can have religious beliefs but atheism as a whole is just the lack of belief in a God. That's it. I'm a non-religious atheist.

I wish you luck in your classes as it might be a tough one.. Religion is hard for people to agree on.. I am also a Southern Baptist, or just plain Baptist and attended Holiness churches when I was much younger.. I enjoyed the Holiness Church but it was a bit different than the Baptist Churches that I have been to.. I love the relaxed atmosphere of a Baptist church and have always felt more at home with the Baptist faith.. I do not go to church on a regular basis, as the church where we did attend is so far away and with gas prices being what they are, we really can't get there often.. We are considering trying a smaller church which was built a couple of blocks away from us.. Hope you find what you need in this discussion, good luck

Yes it is...and the Philippines is also the country with the most number of Catholics in Asia. The rest are predominantly Buddhist (Thai, Viet, etc) or Muslim (Indonesia, Malaysia). There is Singapore which has three major religions... :)

I belong to the Church of Christ or the Iglesia Ni Cristo. We believe that there's only one God and that is the Father. We do not believe in what others called the Holy Trinity. For us, Jesus is a man in nature and that He is not God. But even though He is a man, He is the only Man who have not sinned. He is also the only Mediator between God and men. We do not believe in saints and we do not have any graven images in our church.

I am a Brethren Christian...and a fairly liberal one. I believe in the Trinity; salvation and sin, that faith and belief is the foundation of salvation; baptism by immersion; and I am fine with evangelism; bible is the Word of God. I don't into speaking of tongues and the gifts of the Holy Spirit... Also, I strongly advise new believers to always always go for classes to learn more about how to read the Bible and more importantly, read and understand it in context. Liberal here is because I don't push people to embracing what I believe; I don't go around telling people that homosexuality is wrong and that we should correct it. I may not agree with all these things on a religious ground but I feel that we shouldn't judge and neither should we ostracise people. Also, to me, there is no such thing as a "better" religion. As long as the faith teaches one to be a good and God-fearing person, I supposed you could say that I couldn't care less. It's, after all, not my life nor my choice.
