Don't know why, but have always wanted a husky since i could remember. Went to a shelter about two years back, and picked up a White female husky (in the photo on my profile). Here are some things you need to know about huskies if you want one that i have learned over this past two years. - They are pack animals, so they don't like it if you go anywhere without them. - Expect to have hair EVERYWHERE, all the time. No matter how hard you try, it won't help. Have a good vacumn. - Cats, or any other small furry creatures..... not good - (If you have a female) Other female dogs..... not good - They play ROUGH, if blood is drawn on other dogs, thats just how they play. - They don't bark, but they talk all the time. - You can trust them around babies of ANY age, they will protect them from other dogs and treat them like your own. - If someone breaks into your house, they will play with them. - You must be the "pack leader", if your not, they will run your house. - VERY smart, which is good and bad at times. She can open the fridge and take out what she wants. If your looking for a great family dog, this is the dog for you. However be ready for some work, but it is worth it.

I think some of your points are very good. But drawing blood when playing isnt right, and certainly id be furious if your dog did that to mine. DOgs play rough but they should learn boundaries.

I loved reading this post. We have 2 huskies. Our female is pure white and is 3 years old. Our male is black and white with blue eyes and he's 8 months. Our female is so smart and she has calmed down some over the past year. Max (our male)... good lord he's like a 4 year old little boy with ADD. Just goin' and goin' and goin. But I loved reading this because it's exactly how my dogs are. They talk all the time. Max talks to my fiancee too! It's like he thinks he's human. We've had both of ours around infants and kids and they are PERFECT with them. It's so great and I'm so glad we got huskies. We love them to pieces.

Another thing about huskies. Don't ever let them loose or you won't see them till they are ready to come back. They can be gone for hours and come back full of mud and burrs. I had a Husky once. She loved cats but could never figure out why most don't like to play with her. Think it had a lot to do with most cats don't like the game of 'chase'. lol The talking I can wholeheartedly agree on. I would often tell ppl that my Husky doesn't bark, but talks instead. Funny thing is, she only talked to us. Noone else. She would have a certain high-pitched bark to warn of intruders but that's it. I miss her and her talking. Also, Huskies are bred to work. If they don't work, they will find things to do despite the fact you don't agree to what they are doing. I would keep my Husky busy alot by helping us clear brush or branches if we cut a tree down. She would go nuts whenever we brought her harness out cause she knew she would be working. She loved pulling our daughter on her sled in the winter and her wagon in the summer. Knew all the sled dog commands which came in handy whenever she worked.

I saw two siberian huskies when i was working abroad... and i think they are one of the most beautiful creatures created by God... they are so proud and lovely... i wish i can own one... but since i live in a tropical country... i would have to be content with the other dog breed that can stand the heat... Lucky for you to have one...
