I have... My father who has just turned 58 has a lung desease.. COPD.(Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disaese) It's 5 1/2 years ago that the doctors said he had COPD and he has turned from a always very busy and helping man to a man who can not even walk a stairs anymore. He has oxigen 24 hours a day and a closet full of medication. He has a very hard time living like this, everything he does makes him very tired. I hate to see him like this and find it very hard. All we can do, and sure as h*ll are doing, is make the best of the time we still have.. cause we all know that he wont be better anymore, He an only get sicker... Thanks in advance for your response!

I can understand your pain. My mom has Emphesymia(sp?) and is on oxygen. She finally quit smoking and is actually doing a little better. I am close to my mom and can't imagine not having her in my life so it is really hard to deal with. I try to make the most of everything and make sure I see her as much as possible (I live 4 states away) and talk to her everyday.

My mom has 4 serious things wrong with her heart. They can't do surgery, her heart is to weak to withstand it. And if they could do surgery, they would not be able to fix everything. The heart problem my mom has is the kind where they put you on the transplant list. She has other health problems so she would not be a canidate for that. its scary to think about losing my mom. I just recently lost my husband to a massive heart attack. I was with him at home when it happened. It was devistating.

I feel for you. Six years ago my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. And when she got very sick I was able to be home to take care of her while she was dying. It's not an easy job to watch the person who had so much life in them just fizzle out in a way. I wish you the best in this not so easy journey you are taking. :)

MOM - My mother & I
My mom was just Diagnosed with that. She just turned 55. She is always using her Inhaler. Se is just getting over bronchitis which she has had for a MONTH. IT is really sad. She does not have any family where she lives. I hope to be in the same town as her in the next year or two. Plus on top of that – she has the beginning signs of Parkinson’s. I love her – she is my best friend.
