How do you feel about your country giving ...........

financial aid to a small country that has suffered an unfortunate disaster ? Following the recent 12ft tidal wave in Burma the British goverment have pledged £5,000,000 in aid to help out. Personally I am outraged at this as the saying goes "charity begins at home". I know Burma are only a small nation and that they may not have much money to help the re-building of their country but that amount of money could of been used to tackle some of our own issue's such as policing, teacher's/school's. Five leading charities are leading effort's to get aid to those affected by this tradegy so surely it should be left to people to decide if/how much they would donate to those people.

Hi there Mark! I will feel the same way too. I don't have anything against helping but I think that you should do that when you don't have anymore hungry mouths to feed in your own country. I think that the wealthier countries should do that instead of a poor country helping another poor country.

If from the UK which I suppose is a wealthier country but I still dont think it is right to give away much needed money no matter how well off you are. Situation's like this I feel should be left to the consious of people to determine for themselve's how much aid/help is given.

I agree with you, we should clean up our own back yard before we jump over the fence and work on someone else's. The sadiest thing is that we will pledge the money, but we do not have it, so there goes some more negative deficit again. Karen
