That is a saying that I have always belived and put faith in. I belive that when you go through tough times and get out of them you come out a stronger person - atleast I do. Last late summer I thought more or less that life was over. bad things just kept happening and i just felt so sorry for myself - but I took control again and today I am happy and enjoying life. I am single, working, living by myself and I am happy =) Life is great =) So, do you think that bad things can make you stronger?

I agree. That's really true in life. The challenges that you were able to hurdle on can only make you stronger. Life's tough but that's what makes it interesting. I admire your attitude and hope you'll always be like that.

You are damn right. Tough times makes you stronger. Last year I got bad marks in my exams I got what I call "emotional punishment" from my parents but now I am immune to these kind of things. All I think about what I want to do.

Well, they usually say that you can only tell the men from the boys during times of crisis. A businessman I know once said that crisis were always good because you could always tell who were in business for real and who were the crooks. I think that's true for just about everything. Everyone can do well and everyone can be your friend when times are good and when you are prospering. It is exceedingly easy to get seduced by flattery. However, when things are down, you get to see who your real friends are. You are forced to look at ground realities rather than your fantasies when the time is tough. So crisis always manage to bring out the best in people. Look at political leaders. During World War II you got leaders like Roosavelt, Churchil and dare I say Stalin. These days all you have is Bush, Brown and ..Putin. Back then you had leaders who had to find ways of inspiring people. Do we feel inspired by the leaders we have today.

Yes, bad things do make people stronger. But still that depends on the person also. Some people are not strong enough go through all the bad things, and their life takes wrong turn or they go through heavy break down. If we are strong enough to come out through the difficulties, that will make us strong only. I am happy for you that, you came out strong and now living a happy life.

I don't know if I really believe in it, but I do use it as a consolation when things go bad. So I think on this level I believe in it or at least hope to. In my memory, I can recall some cases like you was through, maybe not as bad as yours. And it seemed I did grow up or became stronger a little bit after each case. Hope this saying is really true, working like a causal relationship.

So glad to hear that you are happy with yourself Marie. Too often people let themselves fall deeply into depression when life comes at them too fast. Each day comes a new day. It is good to hear that a friend overcomes the darkness. Big huggers to you.

i absolutely agree with what you have said, problems and trials are a part of life, they will never cease to exist. everyone has problems in different levels. there will be times when we think we can no longer last a day because of problems that keep pouring, in fact there are other people that end their lives just because they can no longer hold on. i too has a lot of problem, in family, financial, life, work and more, problems that i have been facing eversince i got a mind of my own. i sometimes think that i can no longer take it. but i know i need to carry on for everyone i love, i need to hold on to my sanity and no give up. life can really be tough at times, but we need to be tougher, every trials has a good reward and they say the strongest tree on the forest is the one that had withstand the harsh sun rays and scorching rain not. life is not fair, it will never be.

It does and will always will. I look at bad things as challenges for me solve. It should be perceived positively so as to challenged yourself well and eventually, you will give your best shot in solving it. To be strong and even stronger is life's prize to you.

I have heard of people referring to bad things as such things as barricades, road blocks, and such similar things. I myself refer to them as stepping stones. I always try to keep in mind that the stepping stones of today gets you ready for what you may face tomorrow.

Yes I do. Isometrics or resistance training for inner strength. Things come to easy you don't have to work that hard and you don't build up any calluses or muscle.

Usually, with alot of struggle, tears, and sometimes blood I can work through the bad and come out with something I've learned which helps me become stronger than I was before it happened. But sometimes it takes a long time...and it's not usually a pleasant process, at least not for me. But it's why I choose not to regret anything, 'cause no matter what I did what I could and at least attempted to learn from the experience.

yes, we all have to go through bad experiences in our lives. Any loss no matter what it is brings about grief and the grief process. and then we may help and truly understand what it is like for someone else who has a similar problem or loss, and yet, there experience is there own and grief is different for everyone. I'm so happy you are doing well

I definately agree with the first responder. Bad things can only make us stronger when we do like you did, get up and take control. Sitting around and mopping spells defeat and will only take us under the tide of distress and drown us. I am happy that you took control and came out on the brighter side of life. (lol)

Time - As we go on with our life, experience makes us stronger and be a better person.
Yeah! i do agree with most of your replies here. I myself also had an experience about bad things turn to be more beneficial and inspiring for me. It really strengthens me and be more stronger to face even more tough situation. As one day, there is an email message for me about carry your cross http://youtube.com/watch?v=og8naGgWDPQ it is really funny but touchy as it touch my heart and apply it to my life. Believing that each one of us has its own cross to carry and as day pass we fill that due to its heaviness, we feel we can't carry it anymore. We still try to move on until we reach to our goal knowing that there is a reason why this cross is too heavy as we can use it in the future. But if we feel that we can't really carry it anymore, God will send His instrument to find a way and help us to carry the burden of the cross.make it easier and came to the moment we realize that "OH THIS SITUATION WE ARE STRUGGLING MAKES US MORE STRONGER AND BETTER PERSON."

Depression is a very hard thing to go through. I know as I have gone through it many times, and have pulled through. AS of late I am stuck in a funk that I am unable to shake myself from, but I do know that I feel better once I step outside. I believe that it can and does make a person stronger, it just depends on that person. People can get depressed and caught up in things that are not worth being caught up or depressed about. It's just a way of life. Is it fun? No but it can be stopped and you can make it through.. it won't be easy... many people feel that it is impossible because of that.
