I have yet to be able to find the perfect red lipstick. I love the dramatic effect of wearing such a bold shade. I'm not sure if I could ever pull it off, but I'd love to try. I am just wondering if any of you have found a perfect red lipstick shade. If so what shade and brand was it? I'm curious. I know that different complexions and such, means what shade works best for you might not for me. I have a fair complextion and dark brown hair. Also, if you just have a favorite brand of lipstick let me know. I may not have ever used it and I can look for a good red shade in that brand.

Go for a Mac lippy, they stay forever and they're good quality but not too expensive. Make sure that you get a good shade to match your skin tone, and dont go for anything too orange cos it will make your teeth look a funny colour! You have a similar skin tone and hair colour to me and I go for pinky reds, but nice bright ones. Nothing that your Nan would wear but not too dark because I find that I look like a vampire! Sounds like an odd thing to do, but when I look at daring shades I dab a little onto my skin next to my eyes to see what it does for my skin tone eye colour and hair colour. Hope thats helpful for you.

I really want to check out MAC lipsticks, I always hear good stuff about them. Looking like a grandma definitly isn't my goal, nor is looking like a vampire, so when I'm looking I try to keep that in mind lol. It's funny how red lipsticks can have two such different connections. The tip about dabbing it near your eye to check the shade is a great idea! I've never thought of trying that! Thank you.

hi kel! that is cool, i mean trying out new looks. but i dunno if you have noticed, because i have noticed it lately in the many functions that i have been attending that make up artists now play up the eyes and even out the skin and do some blush, but the lips are just dabbed with colored lip gloss. and left at that. no more bold colors. i dunno why. but i am glad, because i had not been fond of wearing lipstick anyway. well i am just sharing this if you would want to know. :-) at least you can think it over before buying an expensive brand. good day dear! :-)

I have noticed the trend of less on the lips and playing up other features. I tend to do that now and like the idea of going bold on lips. Maybe it's just because it isn't the poplular trend haha. I guess I'm backwards and like the thing that isn't in style right now. Thanks for the comment. It's definitely something that will stay in the back of my mind next time I'm shopping for some new make up.

my perfect red lipstick is Mac Russian Red with a Matte Finish. it has a blue base tone, so it makes your teeth look very white. it's a lovely matt finish, and a real glamourous old hollywood look.

I'll have to check out that shade. The blue base is cool to help make the teeth whiter. I love that old hollywood glamour look! Thanks.
