Well I don't quite see how that's a bad habit, unless they assume that since you eat while you watch tv if you sit down to watch tv you'll be hungry... whole dog and bell thing, which I somehow doubt is going to happen but hey you never know. The first response mentioned sitting down and talking and enjoying the food... at the table. Now, the way I see it where you are when you eat means nothing. For example, I sat down watching Doctor Who last night and was eating dinner, and my father was doing the same and we had a conversation about the days earlier baseball game. So the setting and whats going on in the background have nothing to do with anything. Now, useless explanation aside, I prefer to eat to the t.v as I find it far too difficult to eat and read a book at the same time. Entirely because I lack the required amount of hands to hold a book, eating utensils and a plate. Though perhaps if I was at a table it wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm uncomfortable sitting at a table and reading. Reminds me too much of a desk I suppose.

Really a bad habit the both. When we eat we eat and talk in the dinner table. So you can taste the food and talk about your day with your family. Rarely we eat watching TV, only if it have something that we really don't want to miss out and we can't eat before or after.
