What is really going on?

Today, I read that Henry Paulson claims that the credit crisis maybe fading, this coming the day after Fannie Mae reporting again more losses. How does the Treasury Secretary know that the credit crisis is over, did all those people who walked out on those mortgages get them paid up and go back?
I see too much conflicting information, and that scares me the most, I don't know what to believe or who to believe. What to do think is going on?

The Secretary of the Treasury is an idiot. He doesn't even know the definition of a recession, like our President doesn't -- at least he'll say it, I grant him that...Bush refuses to even utter the word.
Things are CRAP right now, unfortunately...and I apologize for my bluntness, I'm kinda not one for mincing words today.
All the numbers say things aren't doing too well.
Listen to the numbers, the numbers won't lie. People will.
Mr. Paulson, I think, is in denial.

Thanks for responding, and you are right, things are CRAP and it looks like its going to hell. Bush lies and tells the world we are fine while he continues to make money off the oil, draining the working class. He will have everyone in the poor house, but why should he care, he will be out of office soon.

I think that sums things up rather nicely, and sure. I'm always interested in discussions on this topic -- the more minds on real problems, the better off we are, I figure.
Greed again, it seems like it starts most problems these days. *sighs* you can tell he's rather pleased with the fact he can get away with anyhing, particularly because he's outta the white house soon. Did hear about than one dinner while he was dancing and singing (jokingly, but it was the truest thing I ever heard him say) about himself and Cheney -- and then joking at the most recent dinner thing he did.
I think he's more aware than he pretends..he just probably doesn't care. May even believe what he's doing is good.
As someone else recently said; "Our problem this time wasn't that our President had convictions, it was that he had convictions...that's the problem."

I think this is a classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing! I actually think that at this point the American people know more about what is going on with the credit crisis and the economy than our government does. Right now they are more interested in trying to convince us that all is well, and spending more money on the so called Iraq war than anything else. The U.S. Government needs some major changes and needs to wake up and smell the coffee; they really need to pay more attention to what is really going on instead of trying to tell us how everything is actually ok.

Thanks for responding, and I agree with you, as long as the Government continues to convince us that all is well, they continue to ignore the core problems and issues at hand, and by the time someone does wake up and smell the coffe it will probable be too late.
Thanks, again
Karen
