Do you have one? I keep seeing them advertised on television. It seems if you have one of these around the house and have them set properly an alarm or something will go off if there is severe weather threatening your area. I have also seen some at stores but I do not understand exactly how they work. Do you have one? and Do you think everyone should have one of these weather radios?

Yes we have one and everybody should get one. Our oldest son works with disaster preparedness and he made sure we all had one last year. That was his Christmas presents to us and his brothers and sister. They are very nice to alert you of bad weather. Ours has a radio with batteries and even a light on it. With all the strange weather patterns, it is good to be prepared.

OH wow! I didn't know it was a radio also. I don't have a radio with batteries. I just bought a under the cabinet radio/cd player and guess what? It doesn't run on batteries, it runs on electricity. LOL I may have to check into getting one.

I don't have one but my mom just got one. It is really good because it works off batteries. That way if the power goes out you can still be warned of bad weather. It also makes a loud noise when there is bad weather so if you are asleep it will wake you up. That way if it was a tornado warning or something like that you would be alerted. I am planning to get one as well.

That is what I thought I had heard that it went off if bad weather was on the way to your area. Thanks for posting.

I don't have a weather radio in my home, but I do have one at where I work. It can be annoying at times because it always seems to be going off at a certain time everynight just for a test. I think it could be handy if you don't have a TV or radio near by that you don't have on, otherwise I think the TV and radio are good sources of weather information.

I just don't have a battery operated radio. I thought I bought one and ended up the batteries were only to keep the clock from losing time if the power went off. :0 thanks for the post.

we don't have one, but I want to get one. I'm not always on a local channel so I don't usually pay attention to the weather until my inlaws call me. They have one and its usually always on. If I see bad weather outside i'm calling them to find out what the weather is going to be like.
