Which do you prefer? Accepting Present or Gift Certificate?

receiving a gift is a gift itself. it shows that the person is thinking of you. but that doesnt mean that when you arent given a gift you dont matter because you do, its just that gifts are probably 2nd priority. theres a saying that goes 'beggars cant be choosers'. now im not saying that the person given a gift is a beggar because the person is not. it just says that you cant pick a gift that other people will give you because it is what they give to you whole heartedly. it would be mean to say 'i don't like your gift can you change it with something else?'. lol.. now that is mean. but these days we have to be practical. i feel that it is much more practical to be given a gift certificate as a present. why? because with a gift certificate you can buy whatever you want without feeling guilty of not liking what the person gave you. you could say 'this thing is given to me with the gift certificate of...'. and giving a gift certificate would not only be a simple gift to give to someone it would also please the recipient because it could come in handy whenever the person needs to buy something.

Although, I like opening presents too, I'd have to say I would prefer a gift certificate. I'd hate for anyone to waste their hard earned money on something I really don't like or doesn't fit.

I am not really choosy when it comes to the gifts given to me. However, I have some problems with some gifts. Like there are instances when I am given something that I already have. It would really be nice to be given gift certificates or gift cards instead. At least, I will be able to buy something that I really want.

i think it is the thought that counts, whether it is a gift certificate or a present so i like both

I much prefer gift certificates so I can choose the things I know I like. Nobody knows better what's best for me other than myself I'm happy when I get presents too, but when the present turns out to be something I don't like it confuses me cause I don't want to hurt the person's feelings, but at the same time I know I will never use what he/she gave me.
