Is American Idol rigged?

I am really starting to get the vibe that American Idol is somewhat rigged. I mean, over the years i've been watching off and on i've seen contestants get kicked right off the bat that were incredibly good at their singing ability. Then I see people like Archuleta somehow making it into the top four despite the lack of singing ability they hold. Maybe it's not rigged though? Maybe Archuleta sounds a lot better in person? Or the fact that he's a young kid at only the age of 17 with a voice like that and people just love him? I really dont know. I mean, even with Paula messing up with the whole what she thought of whichever the singer that only sang once, yet she's giving criticism for two songs that he sung which at the moment he didn't even do yet. Then again, she does look like one to have a drinking problem, aha! Anyways. What do you think of all this? Do you feel at certain points of the show it seems rigged, or do you feel as though it's an honest and realistic, vote for your favorites type of show?

Sometimes I wonder if it's rigged too. I used to sing professionally, so I know what it takes to be good. I thought Carly was excellent and I was hoping that she would win. Last season, I really liked Melinda and was absolutely shocked when she got kicked off. She had a great voice. Unfortunately, people today aren't really concerned with real talent so much as presentation, looks, and showmanship. A lot of people are easily fooled by these things. Some of the favorites might put on a good show that masks the fact that they really can't sing that well. Don't get me started on Archuleta. I really don't like him. Aside from the fact that he seems like a big phony, I think he puts too many runs in his songs. He is always trying to sing like a soul singer or like he's the newest member of NSync or something. Sometimes I just wish he would pick a note and stick with it, you know? Unfortunately, some people that watch the show wouldn't recognize real talent if it slapped them in the face, so the contestants are going to be subjected to the fleeting fancy of teenage girls around the country (who vote for Archuleta because he's..."cute").

yes its rigged because there are nothing but failed artist on the show. and what i mean by that is that everyone on the show (well this season) had a carrer but failed and they didnt feel like going thru all the auditions that usually happen fore the premier of the show (yes they had fake auditions for this show as well) they figured less money spent more profit earn lets just roll with it! and yes its true because this was on a news report! and you can research everyone and find out!

Do you have any dought that it is rigged? They have predetermined the outcome from the beginning of the show. The judges lines are rehersed, and dictated in advance. I don't watch it anymore, because the outcome is already decided.

Sometimes I do sometimes I dont. But I have noticed this season that Simon hasnt been so cold and it is making a differnce in the votes I think. I usually have favorites at the begining. I always hate it when they go. Like Daughtry-but look where he is now. At least being on idol they get a chance.

I am glad I am not the only one who has though this. I didn't watch this season but I have watched the past several seasons and it seems like there will be some on there that just can't sing that make it all the way to just about the end like the final 4! Maybe I am wrong but I think it is rigged so the person the show wants to win does. We will never know for sure though.

I think that Idol is definitely not rigged, It is too quirky to be rigged.I don't think that the non americans really needed to leave as soon as they did. It shows they didn't have a huge american voting block.

i have really wondered that before becuase i know that a few of the people that have won the show hasn't sold as many records as the people that came in second or third..and that is really strange to me how they can sell more and still not have won the show...so i have wondered that before the only time i will watch american idol is the beginning when the auditions are going on!
