Well, after a 3 day MyLot leave of absence I am finally back. I have missed everyone so much. Three days ago I found that some of my basic programs wouldn't run, I found the problem…I only had about 2Gig of hard drive left. Not enough to run everything.
Now, I have a 107Gig hard drive so needless to say it was really full. A lot of it is my cross-stitch charts…don’t ask how many b/c I’d be ashamed to admit to having that much. Let’s just say it’s enough to last several dozen lifetimes. Well, I’ve spent 3 days sorting, labeling and burning and have now cleared off some space. I now have a whopping 19Gig of hard drive. I am sooooo proud!! I still have more to do but I am treating myself tonight by starting a few discussions and then answering some until it’s time for bed. Tomorrow I can get back to my regular routine and work on the charts a little at a time. I just had to let everyone know that I didn’t leave completely and that I’m tickled to be back.
I’ve spotted a few discussions about the over abundance of trolls, some banning and some ppl leaving. Hopefully things will settle down soon and we can get back to having fun.
Have you ever run out of operating space? Do you pile things up until you HAVE to do something about them? Are you still happy here or are recent problems wearing on you?

I have to say I have way too much cross stitch stuff too. Not just charts, but books, aida, threads and kits. I don't get too much time these days to indulge in stitching, but I'm still adding to my collections when I go out shopping.
My charts are kept on my laptop so that my desktop doesn't run out of space, but I know what you mean. I love playing the Sims2, and have bought many of the expansions, but because my computer hasn't got enough space for all of them, I've had to leave 2 of them off so that the game isn't too slow.
My partner is talking about upgrading our computers, starting with mine, so it will have more memory and hopefully run a bit faster. Only the CPU though, as I love my monitor and need a new mouse and keyboard anyway. I reckon we might get a reasonable trade in deal on the one I already have, considering that we have already doubled the amount of RAM as well as the speed. Just got to get the money to make up the difference now, but our Paypal account is looking rather healthy at the moment.
I tend to spend a few days away from mylot at a time, and when I come back, I find that I have ever so many discussions to respond to. Just gone through my email inbox and put them into batches so I don't feel as though I can't catch up. Knock them down slowly is what I'm trying to do, even if I just stay logged in all day and respond to 5 at time while having a cuppa or lunch.
Because of the lack of time spent here, I've not noticed any problems, but have seen many discussions about them. I guess being an ostrich has its advantages.

I know what you mean about having too much on the pc and needing to upgrade. Between the cross stitch, Everquest and all the other stuff mine still runs slow. We're planning to do the same thing and just work on upgrading the pc's.
It is easy to fall behind here isn't it.

Yeah, still got over 200 discussions to sift through, and that's after doing quite a few today already. Sadly, they go back to 3 and 4 weeks ago! Now that is what I call letting things get on top of me! lol.

WOW! You sure have been busy with your puter. Glad to hear you made a huge dent in freeing up some space on your hard drive. My old computer which I thought was da bomb when I bought it, was actually crappy but didn't realize it till a few years later when I was alot more informed about the goings on of a computer. My Dell now I built online and it's lightning speed. I still have oddles of room on my hard drive. Don't even think I'll ever run out. lol I'm real good at letting things go till I absolutely have to do them and then I'm rushed to get them done. Usually it's stuff I hate doing...like bills. lol As for me being happy here, I am for the most part. Just wish certain ppl would stop being such jerks and play mean somewhere else.

I'm not technically lored, so my responses won't be all that technical, but I know that originally I had a decent amount of memory, but it's about half full now... I figure by the time I fill it all up, it'll be time for a new computer anyway.

LOL---- too much stored on your computer! Sounds like me! I need to clean up my computer for sure. I should run some programs to clean it up.
I have seen those discussions about trolls and such- I’m staying out of that.
Doesn’t it feel great to be cleaning things up and organizing--- I love that feeling of getting something done Keep up the good work.
This weekend I had some time to catch up on some sites & catch up on some other things at home. I’m refreshed and ready for another week!

When I got my first computer everyone said that I would never fill the hard drive.....but it didn't take long. So when I got my current computer I made sure I had alot of space.....I've had it almost three years now and not even close this time! LOL

..between our son's and hubby's music, we have filled up most of our space.. so we bought and external hard drive and I spent a few days putting hubby's music files both in there and on cd's.. and our son is slowly moving his too.. so now we have space again! With lots to spare on the external hard drive.. I forget how many gigabytes it is, but it's a lot - lots more than the computer originally has..

I am happy to see you back hon, I noticed you were gone and wondering where you were. I have run out of space before and had to delete but mostly I would just get a bigger drive.

Welcome back my friend! Congradulations on finding out the problem. To be honest I dont know if the trolls are still here because I havent been spending too much time on mylot. When it gets like that here I think its best to stay away and just answer a couple of discussions a day. Thats what I do anyway.

Welcome back twoey, I missed your typist kitten..
I clean my disk and defragment about once a week because of all the things that both my daughter and I do on the computer.
I love how much faster everything is once we do that..In fact I did it this morning and loving how quickly I am getting things done..

I have been blessed with a son who takes care of my computer problems for me. He speeds it up whenever I need to sped up.. He cleans it up when ever I need it cleaned up and he deletes whenever I need deleted.. Thanks goodness, I don't have to worry about that mess.. So far I am pretty well satisfied on here, but would like to earn a bit more.. Only time will tell.. Have a great day..

Hey Congrats Twoey! yep been there done that! Its always fun getting all those movies, music and pictures burned. I need to spend a couple of days doing that myself. I have couple of hard drives however and I try and spread the wealth around to them. That way it keeps my operating drive free (er). LMAO
