I think horse race is not cool ! Your opinion, please....

I was so upset when I heard that a horse should be put down because it had broken legs due to a horse race. This is the second time I heard such thing. Why don't people ban such race? I think it is not cool! Why don't we invent other safe sport? It shows to me that humans are still barbaric.
