In Case You're Wondering: I'm Still For The Puppy Brigade...

You may wonder why I changed back to my regular avatar...I'm still one-hundred percent the concept of the Puppy Brigade and what it stands for...that is a tribute to one of our friends here that is missing and we all hope to get back. Thing is I was getting complaints from people about the confusion of so many of the same puppy avatar and many missed my regular "signature" avatar that I've been using all over the web whenever one needs an avatar and been doing so for four years, long before I even had my own computer
Okay to make this a discussion...what compels you to change your avatar? Is it for a "cause" to show respect for another member, or boredom with an avatar you've been using, or just plain want a change? How do you choose your avatar?

I always use my own(partial)face. I change my Avatar once a while, depends on my emotional stage. I am about to change it again.

yes, my cat looks like yours...I don't want to confuse anyone...
I should show my true emotions now, happy to see my animals, sad about my mother.
I may use animal image representing spiritual meaning.

I bet your babies are happy to see their "mom" home--my prayers are still for your mom, and of course you!

I just like my own pic, as dull and boring as it is people actually see me. I have used a blue rose, as my signature for winter rose in the past and that is about it.

hmm could it be because you have a black cat, or you like kim novack, or pyewacket in bell knobs and broomsticks? I think that was the name of the movie was it not? Or no maybe it was bell hook and candle

Can't help wondering if Gissi was "jealous" of seeing another doggie avatar rather than a picture of him..heeehee

I havent changed my avatar in over a yr and chances of me changing it any time soon are pretty much slim to none really...Thats not to say I dont support caues like the Puppy Brigade etc its just too confusing like its been mentioned, having so many avatars the same for starters AND like many others I find it easier to find a person by their avatar sometimes ya know..

I think our avatars do reflect our personalities, don't you think? Some of my friends claim that they try to envision what I look like in real life by my avatar...then they see a picture of my real self and they guessed right somehow..LOL

I've forgotten how I changed my avatar in the first place, but I picked my picture and have used it in several places now. The roomie pointed the 2 out and I took the picture. Oliver was almost 4 months old and Rygel had just passed his first birthday. I think its such a great picture that I think it's what I want to be known as.

Well I think your avatar is sweet...think my Kissy is jealous that I choose a black cat avatar rather than a picture of her...maybe sometime I should give her equal time and change it to her picture...sure wish I could photograph my two kitties together, but they're not crazy about the camerajavascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$cphMainContent$lbStart','')

I had in fact noticed that there were of lot of this same avatar as a few people on my friends list has them. Are you allowed to say opennly who your missing friend is? I would like to know if poss and maybe help support you on this. I have never felt compelled to change my avatar as I feel I am recognised by the one I first started with but have only been here a few months so I may get bored with it or have another picture taken that I'll put up that is perhaps more recent once been here a while. Ellie :D

I think a lot of people get accustomed to seeing a person's avatar and identify that person with it...as for the missing friend...the other picture is the person, and the topic of interest indicates her name

Hopefully, she'll be reinstated soon. I do wonder if anyone received a response to all of the messages sent to MyLot about this fiasco. The fun part happens to be all those "What is it with all those puppies" discussions. Well, we'll see what happens.
Bring back yorkiebear!

Now jimbo is gone as well?
WTF is going on here in mylot. Someone definately is picking ppl off one at a time here for some oddball reason that I'm curious about. I didn't even know about sndcain till someone mentioned it earlier. Those 2 aren't on my friends list but I've seen them around here quite a bit b4 all this crap started and was wondering what happened to them lately. No, I haven't heard back from mylot yet and something tells me I never will.

I have had 4 different avatars since I've been here...I'm ready for another change but I keep hearing from people who just love my current one. My first one was a picture of a painting my son did...two sunflowers. I kept that one the longest because it was special to me. But then the first puppy brigade happened and I joined. After the dust settled from that I briefly had a pic of me as my avatar but I really didn't like staring at myself all day and it made it hard to post when other people were around...it was kind of obvious what posts were mine and some things I put here I don't want people here at home reading. So after just a short time I switched to my current one which was an attempt to match my avatar with my user name.
I'm craving a flowery picture now but just haven't gotten around to it.

I change it out of boredom but also for a cause like you did. Usually I pick one of my fur babies for an avatar. Thinking of changing back as well for same reasons but I'm still for the puppy brigade as well. Want yorkie to come back.

I changed my avatar because I found stumbled on a place to create an avatar - choose the background, activity, clothes and accessories, and mine was s'possed to move - jiggle the baby and dance. I guess you could say I changed mine on a whim!

Oh thank you so much I love your 'signature' avatar. I fully understand your puppy brigade support and I would like to join in too but as you say it was getting rather too confusing!
How about every one adds the image at the end of each of their discussions and responses, that way there would be thousands of supporters on each and every page?
Anyway, that was just a thought.
Me, I chose my avatar because it is the view of the sunrise from the top terrace and normally I get up early (around sunrise) to work on the computer before I get complaints from the BF (tee hee) that I'm not looking after him and giving him my full attention. Secondly I think it suits me, my mood and my online name too.
I have noticed a couple of my friends have changed their avatars a few times lately, one reverted back to the original one and the other person has now changed it 3 times and I suppose I will see another one next week!
Good discussion topic, thanks for sharing this with us.

Ah having come from the email notification link I didn't see the puppy brigade support underneath this discussion. Have just noticed it after having finished doing the tags. Good on ya.
Now, is there any way someone like me can get this picture so that I can do it too, to show support?

I havent changed my avy in quite along time and to be honest I am getting tired of it that I might change it. The thing is I change my avy when I either get tired of mine or when I go through a change and want that change to reflect in my avy.

I have only changed mine once and may not change it again. I don't know if I will or not, but probably not. I changed mine just because I wanted to use a picture of myself. Not for any particular reason, but just because.

Hi pyewacket! I really did admire you for standing by your friend and showing it to her and to everyone here by changing your avatar in support of the Puppy Brigade! My avatar was made or drawn by my hubby and I don't have the urge it to change it because i don't want to offend his "labor of love". haha..So, I guess I will stick to it no matter what unless he makes me another one or when he takes pity on me and make me look pretty on the next one. haha.. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day!

Hey that is ok, I only lasted a few hours, and then I just had to change, it confused the heck out of me all those sweet little doggies everywhere, I kept reading what I thought was my responses and then thinking "that is funny, I cannot remember saying that" Well that was because I did not and I was reading someone elses!!
I changed mine to the one I have now simply because I did this picture as a tapestry for my Mum and Dad one christmas. I worked really hard on it and they were really pleased with it and had it framed, and they were advised to get it insured.
I was really surprised to learn that it is now worth a lot of money due to the fact that although the picture is common, the fact that it is done by one person makes it unique and worth more. So when I saw this avatar I just had to have it. Oh and plus I love wolfs, wolves even.
