When you hear the phrase "American Food" what comes to mind? Junk Food? xD I think of Things like Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and grits, even though I've never really eaten it a lot. I also think of "fusion" foods like common Chinese foods, and new york/chicago pizza. They're not really authentic italian or chinese foods, just kinda in between. :]

when I hear American Food I think of Hamburgers and French Fries. It is so true that what we Americans call " Chinese food" isn't even served in China. And with the pizza, there is pizza in Italy but we Americans have a different crust and toppings so it isn't really a authentic pizza.Another food that says America is peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

I think of hotdogs, hamburgers, apple pie, apples and corn. Is it any coincidence that all but one are fattening?

As far as American cuisine...the thing that came to mind first was hot dogs, potato salad and cherry pie. Seems pretty all American and that is what most people grill on the 4th of July. It's also one of my favorite meals.

For me American Food is just Fast Food or Junk food, hamburgers, pizzas, fries, etc. I never thought that there is something more than that on the Amercian Cuisine, but nowadays, every cuisine of the world is mixing up and creating new dishes and new styles. In some time, I think, the "fusion" cuisine is the one that is going to rule all the others, with something for every one.
