Angel Wings and a Golden River

As some of you know my husbands(jer31558) mother passed away yesterday. Last week 3 of her great-grand children were here at my home. 2 of them are 3yrs. old and one of them is 5yrs. I had a paint board and to give them something to do i got the board and paints out and sectioned the board into 3 parts and told them to paint Granny Rhoden a picture to take to her at the hospitial. When they finished i asked each one what they had painted the 2 3yr. olds said "Angel Wings" the 5yr. old said "A Golden River" I ask him why a golden river he answered "because thats what's there". When the picture dried and i took it to the hospitial everyone immediatly knew what the Angel Wings were (some actually thought i had helped them paint them). The Golden River was a little harder until i told them what it was then they could see it.It was almost like they knew on some level what was going to happen. Do you think that is possible? I believe with all my heart that children can sense things that adults block out for whatever reason. What is your opinion?

Cathy, I agree, I believe little children can see and sence things adults can't. I think it's because they are still so innocent and untainted by the cares of the world. With them it's either black or white, there is no grey area. To bad we have to lose that as we grow up and become 'So wise'. Not to mention all the stories we've heard over the years about little children actually seeing angels.

I know when Jamie was small my dad would come visit him and he would tell me about it. A just a few months ago James's Dad started visiting Madeline (he is her g-grandfather).

Cjgrooms, I am sorry about Jers mom, he is on my friends list and I enjoy his discussions very much. This is beautiful what the children did for their grandmere. yes I do believe that children have a unique ability to sense things otherworldly things. That simple innocent intuition gives way to adult reasoning and education. its a shame we can not retain what was so easy for us to understand as a child. My heart and thoughts go out to you and your family.

Thank you so much. We bought a frame for the painting yesterday and are planning to display it at the service for her tomorrow. I also believe that we close off an openess as we get older.

I agree and think that young children are able and are more sensitive to such things than are adults. I have always thought it has more to do with their innocence than anything else. Thank you for your support and strength over the last months, and especially the last few days. I could never have made it through this without you.

Just remember that i am here for you and your family. You can rant, rave, scream or yell at me (i won't take it personally), just talk or use my shoulder to cry your heart out on. Your feelings will be safe with me because i love you all and i loved your Mom.

Out of the mouth of babes come truth. That is what Jesus told us in His word. I know that the Angels took her home and she is sitting by that Golden River. I know this beyond a shadow of doubt, but, so many times I have wanted to tell her something, ask her something, or just tell her I love her. I started to take her number out of my phone knowing I wouldn't need it again, but I just couldn't, not just yet. Just before the Preacher done the commital of ashes to ashes, dust to dust, earth to earth there was an unusual rush of wind and after the commital another one, then no more. I told me it was Angels landing and leaving. It was just such an unusual wind and feeling.

I never believed in this type of thing until Jamie was 3 and started playing with your daddy( he had been gone almost 10yrs.)after that, i don't completly disbelieve anything. I may not understand it, but then nobody understands everything.
