Why has Microsoft suddenly started to withdraw fax facilities?

Windows has always had some form of integrated fax facility, and Microsoft Outlook usually offers to install a basic edition of Winfax while being installed.
I do not normally bother with either of these options, but install an edition of Winfax Pro, but Vista does not support it. I decided that I would have to use another system, but Vista Home Premium does not have integrated fax, it is only available with the Ultimate or Business editions. The feature is also unavailable in Outlook 2007, which would have been my next option.
After providing some sort of fax support for over a decade, does anyone know why Microsoft has decided to discard it?

I was able to use symantec Winfax pro in win2000, when I move up to XP winfax version then was not supported, I did not now that MS outlook has the basic edition but I remember downloading a generic ms fax prior to sp1. I notice lately with XP+SP2(and maybe SP1) setup, it has already a built-in fax support. Maybe, just maybe, they will include that to Vista service pack release.
