My thoughts about myLot

I wish that myLot would be a little more lenient with what is allowed in discussions and comments. I mean, we are (presumably) adults here! I don't enjoy censoring myself... what do you think?

Well no, I believe some here are not adults and even if we all were, some people, even though legally are considered adult, they are immature and do immature things.. Like what is called a troll...They go around to your discussions and rate you negative, just to be mean..How is that being an adult??

Yes there are a lot of immature people. They are going to be there wherever you go. Obviously trolls are allowed to go around and give any and everyone negatives. Mylot does nothing to prevent this. They are still adults... just immature ones, like you said. Anyway, I was thinking more in terms of the discussions and words we are "allowed" to use.. stuff like that.

Well like I said, there are also minors here and I don't know if you are talking about bad language or what, but there are people, including myself, who don't need or want to read bad language..Though people do by using the @ for the a and other creative ways to use that kind of language..

I remember once posting a response and I kept getting a message saying something about it violated the terms and conditions, and it took me ages to realise it was a really mild swear word I'd used or something. Things like that are a bit over the top, you'd have to be really sensitive to be offended by what I'd written and it was in context I hadn't just casually used it.

It would be nice to have more freedom of expression. I don't know if I would change how I am on mylot, but I know I would at least feel better about it.

I don't think it matters whether we're all adults or not. We don't all have the same values and I agree that a line does need to be drawn. Now where that line should be is not up to us, but the site that is paying us.

I agree upon this subject. Everybody is different. Nobody is perfect at all. Nope, no same values at all. People each with different values. Yeah, MyLot is the best site to discuss certain stuff.

I think they are fair enough, I don't think people should be attacking each other this is not what a community is all about, sure people can disagree but with respect.

Indeed. Try having an adult conversation about human sexuality and/or anatomy--it will be censored. (Oddly enough, the scientific name of female organ (a misnomer I know, as the female organs have multiple parts, etc.) is okay, but the scientific name of the male organ is not. There is a book, written by a black academian called N*****--but try mentioning it even in the context. I can understand them wanting to keep things "decent"-- whatever that means, but I think it really boils down to some kind of legal liability... Still, we are treated like children here--and I know some are, but for those of us cresting 30, it's a little ridiculous. dr...

I agree. I was amazed the first time one of my discussions was censored. I called a female dog its common name, but was not allowed to use it. Since taht I've been very careful in choosing my words.

I can see why mylot wants to keep it pretty clean. If they didn't, imagine the outcome when some ppl don't agree with someone else. Yikes! What I would love to see here is a IM. One where we can chat live or even with a mic to the friends on our list. Imagine! Being able to talk to a friend overseas and for free. lol

I understand what you are saying. I do support your opinion. I always discuss my certain stuff, especially feelings and interests. I have been on MyLot for couple months now. I was referred by my aunt, OreoCookie3. That was how I first joined. I never will give this up at all. I do not know about censoring, though. I always have lots of posts.

I guess they just have certain, strict guidelines that they go by. And we just have to abide by them while we are on this site. Now there are other places that we can go and be naughty.... It just won't be myLot.
