Why Even Try Anymore Here?

I have seen many of my friends and many other members stating in responses and comments etc that they are not going to be rating any members discussions anymore due to the star ratings dropping etc. Now I feel this hurts me in a way. I strive to make good quality discussions and earn a high rating in them as well as in the interest groups by getting positive ratings and great comments/responses. Having a good ranking in areas of myLot make a member want to thrive to do even better. So I try my best to get the friends of mine here and other members to rate me highly according to my discussions and responses and comments and photos etc while I do myLotting. Now with a lot not even rating anymore what is the use I ask? Why should I even care anymore if others especially so called friends here refuse to rate us for a job well done? Why try at all even I ask? Who knows. Seems the site is slowly falling down the mountain to take a huge tumble and I am one of it's victims. Oh well. Have fun and rate me or not your choice as I may not even be around much longer if the site has come to not rating the quality people, quality discussions, etc.

I make it a point to rate every discussion I respond to. The thing is I dont just do it for you I do it for me as well. When I look through the list of discussions under a certain topic and dont remember if I responded to a specific discussion by me reting that is my way of telling if IH ave responded to that discussion. As soon as I see that I have rated the discussion then I know I responded to it.

That is a great point to make. Once we rate a discussion or response that area is no longer there letting us know we had rated that particular thing. Thanks for bringing that to mind here.

magik I do the same exact thing but have found on a few occasions that although I always rate discussions I respond to if I go back the next day to respond to a response my rating isn't there - sure it's just a glitch and doesn't happen often but does.
Another of my little 'things' is if I respond to a discussion it gets a + - I don't bother responding to ones that I would rate - .

I think people should do what they think is the right thing to do. I feel like giving a positive rating to people that I feel contributes to a topic,or starts a worthwhile tread. Like this one.
If we stop rating because someone abuse the ratings system then the abusers have won. just like in any area in life.

I have seen a member state that by not raiting at all this will make those negative raters stop. this will always happen. All i want is a chance to be rated by the quality etc of my participitation here. i do not do want to do this for no purpose at all. Anyhow thanks.

I always rate good discussion and almost all responds to my discussions.
Now, I don't like rate system, but it is there, so I better use it to help my friends.

Thank you. I also feel that the members that get the higher rankings etc seem to do better as far as payment goes. Not sure but seems this way. Thanks also.

Well im always gonna rate people including yourself. I am tired of all the complaints but thats the way it will always be you can never please everyone. I say just have fun and do what you like.

I just say why let the few quiters ruin your fun. I mean why should the ones who love to read a good post and rate it be punished cause a few people are silly. Do good posts for those who still rate.

But when you strive to impress people with your writing and creativity and then they state they are not going to be rating anymore what's the point in trying to be this good?

Bob,
Don't let it bother you. It's not all of mylot that has stopped so you will still get some ratings as not everyone is going to follow one persons decision to stop rating. I for one still rate discussions and have rated this one and many other that you have made if they are good they are good and for alot of people here it is habit to rate a discussion.

I am on a break from here because of everything I am responding on a few Discussions a Day and I am still rating
It is silly not to rate as it makes no difference whether our Friends rate or not if the trolls want to get to us they will and the Friends not rating are helping them to down rate good People so they are just as bad and also giving in to the Trolls as you can see I have been attacked to but I don't care and I will carry on rating my Friends

Sorry Grandpa but I have had quite a week and it seems that I have missed something here while I have been dealing with things involved with my son!
I would never stop rating my friends as I always go through and rate everyone in the discussions I read, respond, etc! I also rate everyone who responds to my discussions...Don't we all still do this!?!

Not all members it seems. As I stated I saw a few on my list stating somewhere that they will not be rating anymore. This hurts us all in one way or another. I thrive to be creative and rewarded for this but now seems this may stop by some members at least. This site is going downhill with attitudes like this including my own right now. But at this stage I don't like myLot a whole lot.

I'm just too busy in my life for a lot of My Lot right now but when I am here I shall continue to rate everyone!
I do so hope you'll stay as I do so love your discussions even if I only get the chance to read them in my in box...they really do brighten my day!!!

I rate every discussion and response that I read. I almost always rate positive. I probably give one negative for every five hundred positive. Okay, I made that stat up, but something like that! My rating keeps going down for reasons unbeknownst to me, but I will not leave mylot for something like that, nor will I start to abuse the rating system. I will just keep plugging away and giving the positives!

I think it is not a waste if one is making good discussions and having fun on the site, ya know? I realize you are frustrated and I understand why. I am frustrated too that people keep marking me down simply for who I am not what I'm writing. But if you want to stick around you just gotta let it go and realize that there are people who are marking your discussions appropriately! I am always giving you a + Bob!

I always rate! It is a rare occasion that I forget to hit that "+" sign and, if I notice it later, I will correct my faux pas. So, you will always get a "+" from me.
And, as far as this rating system goes, I am disenchanted by it because it is so easy to take one person's good work and turn it into something less by one simple "-" and then it is so hard for that person to get their rating back up. It really isn't fair that one person and one "-" can do so much harm but, 40 "+" in a day doesn't budge that rep an inch. So, I am one of those people who has become disenchanted with the rating system. But, I won't punish others by refusing to rate them. That isn't fair and I am all about what is fair.
So, please don't leave. I enjoy you here! I would miss you and, I know others would too! Please stay! And, I promise to always give you a "+".

I don't know it can help people to raise their ranking by giving them a + until a few days ago. Now I just give every discussion I respond to a positive because I somehow enjoy doing it. And I think it's about being kind to each other. I give others a positive if they do a good job. Maybe I can receive some later. Besides, I rete the comments I have got too.

Being rated positively brings up the star ratings as well as the percentage of the star. it also brings up our rankings in each interest group that we are rated in. This in the long run makes a member stand out better in this community and respected more as far as for quality writings etc. Not rating hurts us all I feel. Thanks also.

I thought is was all about quality discussions, responses, and posts.. I have also tried hard to make my responses just the right length and interesting reading to anyone who cares to read it.. I have also tried to post as many responses as possible, but the payout is terrible and if you are not going to get rated anymore, then why try.. I thought this was a site where everyone wanted to make friends, make money and have a good time, but if not, then I don't need on here either.. I sure am not on here for the money.. Hope you stay and I will rate your responses when and if I can..

I just want you to know that I appreciate having you as a friend DonnaLawson, and myLot is about all of the things that you've mentioned. The length of my response depends on what I have to say, and also the person I'm responding to. I don't mind reading longer responses, especially if a friend has something to say to me. Actually the payout has increased in the last little while, which is a bonus, although that's not the main reason I'm here either. I'll just keep on rating those pluses.

C'mon. You can't leave Mylot. We'll miss you! You bring up good discussion material. I enjoy reading the discussions you start because they have some substance and are of interest to me.
Rating systems always have down sides. In spite of the fact that we're encouraged to NOT give a negative rating based on opinion, some people do it. They are cutting their nose off to spite their face. It will all come back 'round and bite them one day.
I always rate a discussion that draws my interest even if I don't respond. Sometimes it's all been said, and I don't feel that I have anything more to add, but I rate the discussions. If it's a 2 word response with no substance I simply don't rate, I don't rate it negative because I feel that person is desperately trying to earn some money, but they're hurting themselves by the quick responses they give.
Stick with us BOB. You're an asset.

Why Try? I can see you're having a really down day. I feel for you.
But the why try when others could care less attitude reflects badly on you. I don't know about you, but I'm here to join in or start some good quality discussions that make people think, that make me think. If people don't care enough to rate me, so be it. There's always a few good discussions going on that I enjoy joining in on. They expand my knowledge, they allow me to share my knowledge with others. Your's are always in that category and I will always rate you +. :)

I hope it is a minority that is falling into this little group. I rate all discussions I read, photos, etc. After all, if they are interesting enough to get me to open them up and read them, they deserve a good mark. I am finding it harder and harder to find good discussions to read here. Some are just one sentence statements are questions that really don't put much effort into the purpose of the site. Oh well, off my horse. I hope you have kicked that cold and feeling better now? Have a great weekend!

Why are you complaining? You have a 10 star rating how can you say you are one of the victims? However I personally feel if a member feels they have been treated unfairly and threaten to leave then they should just go. Of course if they just want to get their friends to beg them not to leave then that is a different story. If and when I decide to quit myLot then I'll just be gone ..no fanfare.

I think that it is important to rate discussions and responces. How else are you going to know if you are going such a great job?
I used to stress over my star rating, but then someone didn't like what I had to say I guess and must have gave me negatives because I dropped fast.

I try to always rate the topic discussion that I thought was interesting an d good. and now thanks to magikrose, its more important for me to rate cause to remind me, I already had responded in the topic. Anyway, its always be a pro and con, about just anything. Just do what you think is right (like still rating any discussion) and let them be who didnot wanted to rate anymore. Thx
