3 birds of a feather, flew into me together!!

Flying birds - Although not attacked by this specific bird, I am just portraying a bird in flight.

I was walking home from the doctors earlier just strolling along minding my own business, when I heard the sound of birds falling out, before I had time to turn to see where they were they were hurtling towards me at an amazing rate. With absolutely no time to react whatsoever I was then assaulted by the 3 furious missiles, taking a hit to the back of the head, and one to the side of my face. The one that hit my face then fell to the ground, although quite shaken and dazed I rushed to his aid to see if he was ok, only to receive a furious peck to my finger and for him to then shake himself off and take flight. His enemies were lying in wait and their air battle resumed where it left off!!So, has anyone else been assaulted by any kinds of animals recently?

What nasty bad tempered birds they were - you should get them charged with reckless and dangerous flying! Seriously though that would have terrified me! I did have a seagull swoop down and steal a chip that was already halfway into my mouth once - I was really upset as they were very expensive and there weren't that many to start with! xxx

Ha ha that sounds like a place I went to on holiday once, they were so tight with their portions it was unbelievable, we went in one place one time and the kids had hot dogs, we asked for tomato sauce and when the waitress brought it over, she told us it was for the hotdogs only!! Can you believe that, needless to say we paid no attention to her and sneaked it on our plates anyway. Do you know that as soon as she saw the kids put it on their hotdogs she came back and took it away!!

Oh Gemini_rose how absolutely terrifying for you, it would remind me of Alfred Hitchcoks The Birds. I personally have never been attacked by any bird but my daughter only last week was attacked in this way by an extremely large seagull that left a cut in her head and on numerous occasions they have swooped down and stolen food from her hands, she tells me they pick on her because they sense her fear of them but no wonder she is frightened when they do this. Here we actively encourage tourists not to feed as they are becoming a real pest and bold and dangerous, but it is not their fault if being feed by others in this way. I do not put my rubbish out either until I hear the dust cart as they rip into the bags immediately and make an awful mess of everything. I hope you are okay though, it would have really sjoke me up. Ellie :D

Yes I was absolutely fine!! I know that seagulls can be nasty, I do not like them at all, and so you have no worries about me coming and feeding them!!

I can honestly say that ive never knowna bird even come near me Rose,But what you describe here must have been terrifying,I know i would have found it really scary.Sometimes near the coast you may get a pigeon fly a little closer overhead and thats bad enough!!What this scene reminds me of is Alfred Hitchcocks film..the Birds...ive never even heard of anythinglike that happening to anyone before.Maybe they were fighting over a titbit or a grub that they had found,or maybe there was a nesting battle going on,but it certainly sounds really strange.Like you i will usually go to help any bird thats in istress .but im not too sure that i would have in this case.

I think that they were that engrossed in their squabble that they just must have lost track where they were. Luckily it was around the back of my house and so no one saw it happen to me!!

I wasn't assaulted but thought that I was going to be.. We have a neighbor who keeps cows and a bull in an empty field behind us.. The cows got out all last summer and would roam around in our yard.. I didn't mind that but if they had came to the front of our house and walked out into the street, they would have gotten run over, we live on an Indy 500 kind of street.. Last summer, we would just chase them out of the yard and they would go running back to the hole in the fence back into the field where they belonged.. But yesterday, we had a young bull and a cow walking around our back yard, we decided to try and run them back to their fenced in area but they didn't run.. Both of them stood their ground and pawed at the ground as if saying, come on, make me.. We were far enough down in our back yard to not be able to get away from them if they did charge at us, (hubby can't run anyway because of the artery problems in his legs).. We got big sticks and yelled at them to "get along" but it didn't work, they just ended up nonchalently walking into another neighbors yard.. Well, we didn't scare them one bit but they sure did scare us.. I don't know what finally happened to them but I really didn't care to try and tangle with them anymore.. As hubby and one neighbor said, we have enough room in the freezer for them but we are not chasing them down anymore..

I was more concerned about the little birdie, but then I was concerned that I might have a black eye seeing as one of them thumped the side of my face, but there was just a red mark!!

It sounds like a pair of birds were chasing off an intruding bird from their nest. Ands yes they can be very aggressive towards other animals that invade their territory.

That was really nice of her, I do not think that animals realise sometimes that we are just trying to help them.

It's amazing how birds can scare us one minute and make nice songs for us to listen to the next. My son was around 4 and he was dive bombed by a bluejay. He was playing under a tree that happened to have their nest in it, guess they thought he was a threat.

Not recently, in fact, I can't say that this type of thing has ever happened to me. I have in the past had mother birds give me a good warning when I came too close to the nest with her babies in it.
