According to a report, the amount of video uploaded daily may cause the internet to overload by 2010. Recently, TV shows are becoming online. Consequently, "an estimated $137 bn (about 69 bn) is needed in extra investment in network infrastructure worldwide." Source: www.webuser.co.uk/downloadmonitor

It's also beyond my comprehension. Well..i'll leave it to the experts. I'm sure they won't allow internet to halt.

I'm sure they will come up to some solutions. I don't think they will just let internet fall by the wayside.

hmmm..i think i can live without internet...back to basics!! snailmails, telegrams...i personally know a lot of friends here who tend to really get lazy with internet getting in handy.not to mention loads and loads of scammers online. this may sound cynical but im just trying to think from the other side of the coin. come to think of it, the world before has survived without intenet.
@Jemina (5770)

That's good if you have a positive outlook in it. I know we can survive. Internet is not really a vital part of our survival.

I don't really believe that the internet would run out of space. Everyday, there are innovations and new developments that would make storage and data smaller and smaller in terms of space. One video before would take too much storage, now it would just take very little space and much less time to copy and make them.

If they do come up with a solution it won't happen. And I'm sure they are already putting their hands into it. Otherwise, their business will also run out.

Probably thats true. With the many videos coming in produced by so many, overloading is possible. Hope computer companies can do something about that.

Well, the computer companies have got nothing to do with the overloading of the internet, really. But I'm sure those who are concerned are already putting their hands on it. Just relax. I believe we're in good hands.

I have always thought how data are saved online. I have even thought jokingly that they use the infinite space to store files and that they can be saved for eternity. But I couldn't explain why. That was when internet has become popular and I first started to use it in late 1990s. Lately I have come to realize that online storage is just a piece of chip that is stored in a computer. It makes sense that internet is running out of space.

I am at a loss to understand the reasoning behind this theory and have serious doubts to the actual validity of it. The internet comprises of computers to store and relay the data and transmission media such as cables or radio signals, telephone lines etecetera. There has never been a problem with the vast number of television and radio stations appearing, or with the huge increase of mobile phones in use, so I fail to see a limited capacity for the internet. I could well be totally wrong, but I suspect that this is a false and misleading speculation by some person or authority based on inaccurate assumptions.

I can relate it with my inbox. Years ago, yahoo allows only 10 MB storage and if you have exhausted that you can't receive any more messages unless you delete some messages in your inbox. Now our inboxes have huge storage capacity but still it could be filled. So is the internet.

I heard that too, maybe the people putting on the tv shows and big productions need to pay for their usage. We the little people should still be able to get our usage from the Internet don't you agree.

What do you mean the internet will explode and we don't have internet after 2010.Oh my God, how will it happen , we need internet it is part of our system.
@Jemina (5770)

It's not going to explode Grechy..Right now the memory space is just getting too cramped because of those uploaded videos. But I hope that they will solve this impending problem soon.

Call Bill Gates, get him to spend his money, he created this problem by making windows. he started the whole process of modern computers.

Haha! After all this favor he has actually given us? But I know he is really trying to monopolize everything. Who knows? Maybe he's helping fund this thing. Or i could be wrong.

Now we all knw the net is big money to alot of people, and I am sure before that ever happens, some big company will figure out how to add more space. I bet they are working on it right now, I just can not imagin they would let space stop their money wheel.
@Jemina (5770)

Yea, they should know better than just profitting from it. I'm sure before you get a profit you need to invest something.

I just cant see why the internet would really be overloaded. I always thought that the internet is a very vast virtual space with infinite capacity.
@Jemina (5770)

Why do you think are our inboxes have limited storage space then?
• Philippines
11 May 08
I think its our computers which have limited capacity. But the www is an infinite storage of information. Its our computers which are bound by limited capabilities to store enough data.

I think our inboxes are designed to accommodate a limited capacity.

I would have thought that those people who need the space would probably add it. If YouTube needs more storage space, wouldn't they invest in more? Similarly with television companies, if they keep adding content to their sites.

That's right! If they want their site to continue then they should spend their money out of it and not just accept.

considering the internet itself isnt a storage unit but a communication connection.. like phone lines.. cable wires.. electrical line.. i highly doubt itll "run out of space"

Now with this we need so serious memory boost! But if there's some sort of company that kept cleaning out the net would be great! But what i think is that within 2 years this overload will be a thing of the past.
