Do You Bake?

I'm not much of a baker or sweets maker, and my speciality is more dinner meals, but I have such a sweet tooth, and realised yesterday whilst munching my way through the better half of a bag of choc-chip cookies that I should just make my own - they'd be healthier and more cost effective. But cookies and cakes intimidate me a bit =P I'm wondering who bakes sweets and if anyone has a good recipe for some tasty choc-chip cookies?! =D

I don't. However I want to become a baker. I have a little boy and imagine making him birthday cakes, and baking up cookies and other sweet confections - with him - for holidays and just because! I can't wait to see the recipes for choc-chip cookies. I know the most important ingredient my mom used to tell me - is TLC!

Fortunately you have a lot of time to nurture your creative baking skills. Maybe when you have kids you can learn together! And yes - a bit of vanilla essence would make it perfect!

Just like mum and I, my [potential] children are likely to end up covered in oven/stove burns and cooking-cuts. I actually don't know what I would do if they didn't have the culinary spirit in them. It would be upsetting. I know it upsets mum that my sister's not into it, but luckily she got me as well =P Vanilla Essence basically makes the world go round =P

=D TLC and a bit of vanilla essence, I think =P If I end up having kids, cooking/baking general kitchen-stuffs will be a regular thing. It was probably the best part about my up-bringing - Having mum as this fantastic cook and fooling around in the kitchen. Fortunately, meals are still my creative forte... Unfortunately, baking and sweets haven't quite sunk in yet =P

I've just started baking fairly recently, and I'm still no expert at it. I've got a few recipes that I've worked with that produce really nice, tasty cakes though, so with those under my belt I'm learning to quite enjoy it. My favourite is a banana cake, but I also make a nice marmalade cake, and I've recently got my son making fork biscuits which he wants to make a couple of batches of whenever he has a spare moment. My major problem with baking is that I never have the right ingredients to hand when I'm in the mood to make something different. Good luck with your cookies. I'm sure they'll be excellent :-)

The best chocolate chip cookie recipe can be found on the back of Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chips. It's the one I use all the time, it's difficult to mess up, and they are sooo good. My tip, if you like softer cookies, don't bake them as long as the directions say. Let them still be soft in the middle. They continue to cook for another minute when they're out of the oven due to the heat of the cookie itself, and harden up a bit after they're out. I actually am going to make these myself this weekend, I bought the chocolate chips today.

I do like my cookies a bit on the softer and bendy side with some outer crunch =D I'll see if I can find that recipe on the net, because you sound confident in it =D Feel free to send a few to me =P I might end up making some also, maybe this afternoon in time for mother's day tomorrow =) Thanks Kat =)
