I chose to become one of Jehovah's Witnesses when I was 30 years old. It was because I saw that they have a deep respect for the Bible and they do what it says. They have a worldwide brotherhood and have deep love for one another no matter what part of the world they live in. And they are doing just as Jesus instructed, preaching about God's kingdom....going from house to house just as Jesus did, and he taught his disciples to do the same, and he said this work would be going on in all the earth before the end comes. And it sure is. They answered every question I had about God and Why there are so many bad things going on in the world and What is God going to do to change things... and they didn't answer it by themselves, they showed me in the bible where the answers were. They let God's word, the bible, do the talking. Before studying the bible with them, I feared the word Armageddon. Now I know it is going to be God bringing an end to the wickedness in the world and turning the earth back into the paradise it was meant to be. Now that's good news!

I grew up in a catholic family but I was never satisfied with their teachings... As a child I had a lot of questions and conflict they could not even explain to me... I am now a Jehovah's Witness and I am totally satisfied with their bible base teaching... Every question I had in mind, they answered base on what the bible says...

Dear Liran, Firstly great to see you after a long long time. I just hope you are fine with life. I always remember you, miss you. Now, you have put me in hard situation here! It's a tough question indeed! But if you ask me I would rather endorse the religion of utilitarianism which means happiness and peace for all. Or else I would go with my present religion which I would retain for the simple fact that my fore fathers believed in it. Thanks.

No religion. All religions contain falsities. I'd go by some basic teachings--teachings of the Christ and the Buddha ring true, having great bearing on common sense, at least in areas of how we should be to ourselves and each other. No one's got the truth on such things as the nature of God or the afterlife, though, because these things are just unknown.

Thanks for the cordial response. I'm ducking clear of the thread now, because the temptation to ruffle to many feathers exist. I will never understand those who allow anyone dogma to be etched onto their hearts as truth... Shaking my head, at those poor souls. Peace out, DR...

i respect what you said here david and i do agree with you, about there are basic things that a person should fallow, and yes, we do not know about certain things so we can not adopt them. i found a way of taking the things that fits me from my religion , and i am happy and satisfied from that. you can say that i am a Jewish buddhist. Thank you for your response. Liran

What do you mean what religion would we choose? Do we not have the ability to choose our religion for ourselves? I would not choose one at all! And I haven't. I don't know what else to say

yes we do have a choice to choose our own religion but it is not an easy decision when we usually live from age 0 with a group of people that have the same religion it is very hard to disconnect from the community and the social live that is "wraped" around our religion. lets upgrade the question what if there is a government law that each person at the age of 17 and 28 has to choose another religion or stay in the same religion he was brought by, what would you choose?

Well, if I was age 18 I probably would have chosen Buddhism. Now, I was not really raised any religion. I was not raised to be an atheist. My parents are not atheists. My mother believes in God as she was raised a Catholic. I chose to go a different way. They accepted that and never had a problem.

Non-denominational would be my first and only choice. There is only one God, Church and religion. This is bible...

I chose Judaism first because of the music. I heard the music in Fiddler On The Roof and fell in love. But I also liked that questions are welcome in fact in most cases are necessary. You can ask why and not be deemed a lost soul who is going to hell.I love the structure. There is the Torah and the Talmud. The Torah is the Old Testament and the Talmud is all the great discussions about the Torah. All the great minds of old that have questioned the true meaning of the Torah. That is fantastic. And lastly that you are not suppose to see G-d.His presence would be too strong to witness in person. i like that idea. He Has to visit in another form or he will destroy me.

I believe that G-d in His purest form is too strong for any human to withstand. For Him to visit, He Must be in a safer form. The music of Fiddler On The Roof is soo rich. I just love it.

Christianity is what I would chose. It is not a religion but it is a way of living ones life in the way that will honor God. I think it is silly that there is all these different religions and each and every one of them professing to be the true religion. I think that religions should be thrown out the door and the worship of God be slipped back in the door. This is my opinion and it is the way I live my life.

Well i read what you wrote a few times i really do not share your opinion that each religion claims she is the true religion, i think that people are doing that.. my belief is that all religion believe in the same thing but each person adopted the way that he or she feels more comfortable with and that is all i do not support fanatic opinions, i do not think that there is a truth that one religion represents, i think just as you that it is all about: "a way of living ones life in the way that will honor God" but i can not refer to god as a person or worship him through icons, i really think that god is everything and everything is godly, and when we do not "fight" that and just go with the present which was given to us which is called life, everything will be easier and joyful.
