Don't get offended...I don't mean the Queen Mother (of Prince Charles) or any religious symbols, I'm talking about a woman who just keeps having kids!
Jim and Michelle Duggar of Arkansas are expecting another bundle of joy on New Year's Day...yet another baby (can you imagine their deductions)! Here is the latest on Yahoo: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080509/ap_on_re_us/18_kids. Their youngest is about 9 months old...and their oldest is 20.
I couldn't even imagine...this woman has been pregnant more than 11 years of her life (there's two sets of twins in there somewhere)! Her body barely gets a chance to recover from the last one it seems and then BAM! she's pregnant again!
Can you imagine the tuition bills these poor folks would have to pay for college? I can't imagine...
How do you feel about large families like this? Would you ever consider your faith strong enough to pay for all of the expenses?
The family's website is www.duggarfamily.com, with a picture of the entire family. As you can imagine, it's quite a WIDE picture!

"We've had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us," she said, laughing.
Sounds to me like March and April are the busy months LOL!
I don't have a problem with how they've chosen to have a family. It may not be the way I would do it but they are happy with it so that's all that matters.

I agree--there have been reports of foster parents who have taken on so many children and then end up abusing them. From the photographs on the website, all of their children appear to be quite happy and well-adjusted.

It's always easy to throw stones at a glass house. Unfortunately, this family is under super scrutiny just because they're different. Not unlike the old carnival freak shows--people stare. I admire the family for working together! And after all those babies, her husband still wants her? Most women have one and their husband is ready to leave them!

I know a lot of people criticize their methods... assigning chores, the buddy system that pairs one older sibling with one younger one while Michelle concentrates on the newest baby, the home school, the home church... but this is what works for them. Giving children responsibilities is not a bad thing, teaching them morals and values is not a bad thing, having a close knit family is not a bad thing. So what if it takes 2 or 3 children to get dinner on the table, at least they are eating together. If they spend $2000 a month just for food, oh well, they're feeding their family which is more than some parents can say.

yes, i have seen shows about them on TV. Its pretty crazy. I definately could not do it.
I think they have a bit of money stashed away because they were saying that everyone asks them about that & when they first got married they made some very wise investment choices & real estate investments. So that is how they are able to afford their large family. I think they would make some money out of their tv shows and documentarys too.
I have no problem with large families like them, why should it bother me. It only bothers me when people have large families and cant afford them & tax payers end up paying for everything.

The cost of living must be significantly less in Arkansas than here in New Jersey. They are definitely blessed!
I agree with you--it's the folks who have a bunch of babies, then go crying to the welfare office 'I can't work, I have babies to take care of!' and then show up a few months later, pregnant again.

OMG! She has seventeen kids and is expecting baby number eighteen. How in the world does she do it? I would love to have at least one more baby, we have five altogether, but I couldn't imagin having eighteen babies.

I couldn't even imagine having more than the one I have--I had a HUGE (10 lbs, 3 oz girl that was 22 1/2 inches long!) and tried to push her through a 3 cm hole! OUCH!
I also had horrendous postpartum...and my ex didn't understand that. God Bless with the five your currently have!

So I've heard. She is surely the Queen of all moms. 17 kids and another on the way. That's madness, but if she wants to then that's her thing. Her and her husband must really know what they are doing, otherwise they would never have had so many kids.I find it, both amazing and shocking at the same time. But I hope she has a wonderful mothers day. She clearly is the Queen.

Their kids seem to be well behaved, clean and responsible, so she and her husband must be doing something right.
I'm in awe of anyone that could do that! She had better have a wonderful Mother's Day--she certainly deserves it!
