When you travel what kind of motel/hotels do you like to stay in? Do you look for something special that you like, do you pick out the cheapest one that is decent to stay at, do you prefer it to have a lounge, a swimming pool, spa. Do you look for one as close to where you have to be or prefer to stay at the edge of town. If you could stay in anyone which one would you choose. What is the fanciest hotel/motel you have ever stay in?

We don\t travel very much and when we do it is a motel, because instead of having to pay over 100 a night, we can pay maybe 30 or 40 a month. I have stayed at the holiday Inn, Quality Inn, econolodge and small motels. Nothing luxurious or fancy.

I always look for a cheaper one that is decent. I don't like to pay a fortune just for somewhere to sleep. And up here in Canada, and I imagine in the States too, they are so expensive now. I know here in Calgary it is pretty hard to find a motel room under $100. And then there are some like the Radisson that costs $200 a night. I think these prices are crazy so I don;t stay in one unless I really have to. When we go somewhere, my hubby and I, we almost always take the camper since it is a lot cheaper to camp somewhere, although that is getting expensive too, some places. When we went to BC for out holidays three years ago, we were then paying $45 a night for a camp spot. But it was still a lot cheaper than getting a room everywhere we travelled. We did get a room one night, to treat out selves, and it was $180. Crazy but I wanted a long hot bubble bath so that is why we got a motel room. Now you talk about hotels, they are even crazier in prices.

I always try to find hotels that are reasonably priced, but I do still try to find places that have certain features I like. I usually try to find someplace with a pool. I like indoor pools the best in case there is bad weather, but of course I don't mind outdoor pools either. I also really like the rooms that come with the little fridges and microwaves if I can find one. If I am traveling with my husband, then I think it's nice to have a king size bed if it's available, although it's not a necessity. I've never stayed at a really fancy hotel, but I did stay someplace last year with my husband where we decided to splurge a little and get a suite instead of just a regular hotel room. It was kind of a nice little treat. :)

If it's a well-planned trip, then I'd probably have made reservations at a 3-5 star with the gym, pool, bar and all that kind of thing, for a bit of a luxury holiday, but if it's a short trip for a concert or to visit friends, I'll usually just stay with friends or relatives or go to a Youth Hostel - well priced, decent rooms, breakfast included and they're always in a prime position in the city =)

Well,I work in a hotel so if i plan my trip well ahead I'll get a good discount. If I don't-I tend to choose whatever is cheaper. It depends on the brand,though-for example,Motel 6 is cheap and not too bad. I like my hotel to have a swimming pool,a fitness room and be pet-friendly but if it's just one night I don't really care. I'd like to stay at 4 seasons or the fanciest hotel in Las Vegas, that would be great.Or that hotel in Dubai that has tennis court on the roof:)
